I am on a trip. I charged the car to 100%. Says range 270 miles. I enter the destination 188 miles away. The GoM says range 156 miles but 100%. If I delete the destination it says range 270 miles. I replan the trip if says 270 miles.
Using Ford map route planner.

This is the first longer road trip and it’s disappointing. Leaning towards Apple Maps or ABRP for the return trip.

Also ran into my first charging problems. An EVGo they was off line. A EA at a Bank of America that started and stopped after a few minutes and would not restart. Moved to a different charger and it worked.

100% and 270 miles makes sense (EPA range). Put in destination, and it adjusts, as it should. Are you sure you're not reading things wrong, i.e. when you put in the destination, it should adjust, and show you the range adjusted for the destination, and whether you need to charge to reach it.

No. I just saw on the main display that it was adding a charge stop.
Ok, then it was Intelligent Range then. I can't explain why it would not re-adjust after you re-added the route, but perhaps you stumbled across a bug.

I'm curious, how many miles did it actually go? In other words, was closer to 270 or 156? Also curious what the terrain was along the route.

If you search the forum, there have been a couple of bugs in Intelligent Range, maybe you stumbled across one.

I stopped at the added charging stop and topped up to 80%. It was at 33% had about 85 miles remaining when I stopped. I arrived at the destination with 65%.

You used a total of 82% battery capacity for the trip ((100% - 33%) = 67% first leg, + (80% - 65%) = 15% second leg).

So you traveled 188 miles and used 82% of battery.

Your profile says you have a '23 GT and based on the OP if it said 270 EPA miles at full charge you must have the ER battery so about 91 KWh usable. Therefore 82% of 91 KWh = 74.62 KWh.

Ok, so you traveled 188 miles and used 74.62 KWh which equals about 2.52 miles / KWh which seems about normal for winter highway driving in a GT. Actually, pretty good if you tend to have a heavy foot.

It seems like the Intelligent Range display your first time entering the destination was definitely pessimistic, but not terribly off depending upon the terrain and your past driving history.

I bet you stumbled across a bug. Maybe other folks on the forum can try an experiment of entering a route, letting Intelligent Range adjust, delete the route, then enter the route again to see if it can be reproduced.

You didn't say what your starting battery level was, but assuming it was 100% before you left, then you used a total of 82 KW for the trip ((100 - 33) = 67 first leg, + (80 - 65) = 15 second leg).

So you traveled 188 miles and used 82% of battery.

Started at 100%. The car reported 2.1 miles per kw. 90% hands free(no foot) so set to 75 but more like 65-70 average with light traffic. Raining most of the way.

I stopped using the Ford navigation because both times it was going to send me an hour or more out of my way for an unnecessary charge. I would advise against using it to determine when/where/if to charge on a trip.

2.1 is horrible efficiency. The weather impacted you pretty severely. The battery was likely not reconditioned.

Intelligent Range needs to make sure you arrive. O1 x 2.1 = 191. 188 mile trip. Simple math says a recharge is needed.

The initial range shown was more conservative, 156/91=1.71.

Don't feel like you can only use one app. I use ABRP and EVGO both. I also use the Ford Nav so it will heat the battery to prepare for the charge. I think someone said if you are only using the Ford Nav to warm the battery, you should turn it on when you are 40-50 miles out to give it plenty of time to warm up.

I got back today. When I left the car said 273 miles range.
It changed to 168 with a charge stop. The trip was 198 miles. About 3/4 of the way through it dropped the charge stop. I arrived home with 38 miles 14% is indicated. 198+38 226 miles. Lost about 50 miles to Environment and Cabin comfort, maybe speed though the average was 65.
