So about 3 weeks ago I took my car into Discount Tires to have all four tires replaced. When I got back into my car my iPhone was no longer connected and my Phone As a Key also no longer functioned. I attempted to reconnect my Car Play with no luck, so I just routed with the built in GPS. I'm assuming this was just a coincidence as I don't believe having the tires replaced would cause this.

Like 2 days later my SYNC seemed to had gotten hung up loading the Phone section. I had been having odd issues with things not working correctly like the voice activation and the "drive mode not available" error, which I've not seen for months. I waited around 5 minutes or so for it to do its thing then I rebooted it. Ever since then I've been stuck on a black screen. Car powers up on a generic profile as my mirrors no longer fold in, my AC is (now stuck) on low, the stupid engine audio is playing, radio powers on to an AM station, and I don't seem to have a drive mode selected.

I have removed the fuse from #17 that is located under the dash of the passenger seat and put it back in. I read on the forum that can "hard reset" the panel, however did not seem to do anything for me. The SYNC panel does power up, shows the Ford logo and such, also the camera and 360 cameras pop up no issue, so the panel is good. Just seems like SYNC needs a kick in da'butt to get it going again.

I know I need a trip to the dealer, but right now I can't be down a car. Given SoCal heat recently, having AC on low is KILLEN ME!!! I'm hoping with all the wisdom of this form that someone might have an idea for me to try???

if you were parked facing south, and the sun was pounding on the back of your console screen, and your MME is a '21.... I'd bet you have a bad chip in the display.

Mine did

after I demonstrated the screen failure was repeatable, my dealership called it in and replaced the whole display. There was a short batch of '21 that had bad chips when overheated.

I added a console 'cover' after a while, but you can test the theory by protecting the display from direct sun with a cowboy hat and NOT parking facing south.

Oh dang, car is sitting at like 66,500 miles on it, luckily I have a 75,000 warranty...

When at work I do park South East, however outside of work I park inside a garage with no windows. Guess it still 100% plausible that it could just have a bad chip though. Not the quick fix I was hoping for ;-)

well, since it could be argued the console is part of electric drivetrain with backup key code entry and other critical settings, it may be covered under warranty just as a safety concern....

I would def push dealership to replace under warranty and look up the old CSR on the 21 displays to back you up
