I have a crazy thought on this transportation thing. Galpin has rail. My car is coming by rail. Would ford have all of the LA cars ship by train to Galpin and then truck them to various dealerships??? From a transportation viewpoint this seems like a great idea in terms of efficiency

My dealer is Galpin

Attached is a window sticker of a BRAND NEW CAR ON THE GALPIN LOT.

RAIL MEANS TRAIN

CONVOY MEANS TRUCK

Agree. Method how it leaves the plant which may not be how it arrives at the dealership. RH27 is shared by many dealers besides Galpin so unless they all have rail service then the Mach E will arrive at the dealership on a truck transport.

How many Galpin dealerships are there? Dozens?

Creative idea. I wonder if that was suggested or pondered? We may never know....

Technically there are only 3. One in Santa Clarita, north hills and Prescott arizona. Those are Ford.

I had posed a thought above. Galpin is likely the only Ford dealer in SoCal with a rail hub. Would it not make sense to ship by rail all SoCal cars to Galpin and then truck them to all SOCAL dealerships???

My window sticker says "RD27".

Just guessing here, but it doesn't seem to me like local transport is the problem. Sounds like it's getting MMEs in large volume out of the plant, into the US, and cross-country. Once they get to the standard auto rail handling facilities for each city, I'm guessing there's little further delay getting it that last few dozen miles to dealerships.

Just my guess anyway.

Last mile shouldn't be a problem, lots of other cars in the mix. It's loading the railcars in a manor that maximizes the railcar final location in a strategic direction. No fun when your lot is full and lots to load. It's a good problem and a bad problem as others have noted.

This is how I imagine it.

I like how all of those cars are covered.

The "RAMP ONE" box on the sticker doesn't indicate the LAST leg, it is the first. My car is going to a tiny dealership nowhere near an active rail line. It's first leg is by rail from Mexico, the last leg MUST be a truck. I think what @SnBGC is saying is that if the last leg was rail also, there would be an indicator in the "RAMP TWO" box:

I actually have zero concern about how the cars get to our dealers or us unless Ford is conducting airdrops of the Mach-E. They have people who get paid to figure this all out, and that's the issue atm as nobody was expecting the pandemic.

Ford Mustang Mach-E OKTB today..? pandemic

In my case Land, Sea, Land. But the last "Land" cannot be rail. Rail has not existed here since the demise of big sugar and big pineapple.

I get the same result in iPhone safari, iPhone chrome, Mac safari, and Mac chrome.

And the official Ford VIN tracker says it's not scheduled for production.

I'm ok if it's delayed. I'd actually prefer not to get it until early summer.
