I wasn't sure how serious to take this article when I read this:

The quoted lifetime of an electric car battery used to be five years.

Um, what? Did EV batteries actually have an expected lifetime of only five years at some point?

But overall, not much new info here about reuse of EV batteries for grid storage.

Most hybrid and EV batteries have a warranty of 8 years. Manufacturers would be taking a huge hit on warranty repairs if the expected life was only 5 years. Used to have a Prius with NMH battery. At 10 years old it was losing capacity.
