Just as the title states a dealership I talked to earlier this year reached out yesterday and offered me X-Plan pricing on the 2023 model. I was surprised because I thought only 2022 ordered converted to 2023 were eligible for X-Plan pricing. I had talked to them about X-Plan pricing earlier this year and this dealership stated that X-Plan pricing is at the discretion of the dealership and since I asked about X-Plan in the past they would honor that. I had already placed another order of the same trim with a $500 deposit with another dealership closest to me but they did not offer X-Plan pricing.

I'm wondering if there are any problems I can anticipate given that I did not put down a deposit with the dealership I have X-Plan pricing with? And also is there a issue if I order 2 Mach-Es? If so, do I need to cancel one or can I wait and see which one gets to me first?

That honestly seems fishy to me. A deposit binds you to the order so they can't sell it out from under you. X-plan is not supposed to be available for 2023's so that could turn into an issue 6 months from now when you buy it.

I would keep both orders and see what happens. I think a lot of dealers are doing anything they can to get a name for a 2023 order so they get more vehicles to sell at a markup.

Err. Jes sayin. If you wanna buy a $60,000 vehicle you shouldn’t have a problem putting $500 down upfront for them to build it to you especially since in almost every case it’s refundable.

I would want the financial hook up and tracking that I actually am placing an order rather than believe the dealer might be placing an order and then selling it underneath me, and making money and laughing all the way to the bank.

LOL. Auto Dealers are the dinosaurs of our current generation, and will soon be extinct as they all become only service centers and places that sell floor mats and those things you hang off your mirror that smell good as we all order online and pay the same price.

Jes sayin. I would drop 500 bucks and count on my money actually creating a legal contract being more important than his word. Cash still matters. Legally. And yes, I am a lawyer. LOL ?

But I’m jes saying

The dealership I deal with does not require a deposit. They didn't when I ordered my Maverick back in June of '21 and they didn't when I ordered my MME GTPE on Monday. As far as I know Ford leaves it up to individual dealers as to whether or not to require a deposit.

As far as X-Plan goes I have no idea as I'm not a stock holder.

Handshakes mean squat. No monetary commitment means no commitment. If you want it, you should insist on a deposit. For you are then legally bound.
I would honor a handshake personally, but legally umm no.

Most dealerships have refundable deposits which mean squat to. Unless you get a signed buyers agreement to go along with your deposit then your deposit won't get you much reassurance.
