Disclaimer: I dont have the vehicle so this is based on what I have read here and on the FB MachE group.

Someone posted they had an OTA update today, with so many different small issues, glitches that the software has, it bogles my mind a bit that Ford does not release patch notes for these updates. That way the customers know what issues have been addressed in their system. I do not know for sure if they do or don't send patch notes to the owners but judging by a question I saw on the FB page, it seems they do not.

Hopefully this isn't true for "real" OTAs that go out to the broader fleet. Patchnotes are an important part of giving people confidence in any developer's capability and shows that they pay attention to and value their users.

Given the current state of training of support staff, it's best not to publish release notes at this point. That's just piling on. Let them get up to speed first. Thanks and have a nice day. Don't forget to fill out the survey.

For some people. For other non-technical people, it will freak them out. A nice compromise would be to have some website that the technical folks can find, but not on the screen shown to the non-technical.

Now that they are in the tech business they need to be providing patch notes to software updates. To have an error where your charging location set to home and it somehow disables your charging, that should be communicated through patch notes. These errors seem to be mostly software errors and I would feel better knowing that they are being looked at, addressed, and patched. Plenty of software companies do so and Ford is in the software game.

What????

For the OTAs Ford doesn't give you the ability to select which ones you want and the ones you don't?

Lol

THIS.

Otherwise, finding what things are fixed is a case of "hide and go seek" at best

Yeah we need at least a way to know which versions were last working just fine before the new updates broke them

The version of software is not hidden, and is easily viewable with or without release notes

OTA update should have only gone to (some) company-owned cars, so no patch notes would generally be expected. We don't even get told why WebEx is updated every few hours like an iOS application!

I think those apps like Webex and such that show up on the display are actually just running on your phone. So any update on the iOS application would update on the car too

Oh, I meant, we get constant updates on our work PC's, and it's usually WebEx which has been working perfectly since 2010 or so, requiring restarts multiple times per week. My hyperbole is only slightly hyperbolic. ;)
