I find Paak hitches maybe 1 out of 5 times where I have to try more than once to open the door. So far no issues starting the car. And if the phone is freshly rebooted with fordpass not running, I may have to launch it and wait for authentication.

The only time I carry the fob is if I am expecting rain and have passengers that I wouldn't want to get soaked while I work out the occasional issue.

Newbie question:
Which trim levels come with PAAK ?
I think all North America vehicle have this option. I don't think it exists on those that are shipped overseas.

There is a small likelihood that your fob fails, or the battery is drained, or falls out of your pocket into a storm drain. Better double check the PAAK and doorcode!
The great thing about PaaK is that you get frequent practice using the door pillar entry and backup start code so by default they get tested regularly. I use those codes most weekends when I move cars around in my driveway since the fob is inside the house.

if the battery fails in the fob then the door pillar code should allow entry and if the backup start codes doesn't appear then the user can place the dead battery fob in the console receptacle and it will allow the car to start. ? nice tip to remember just in case someone needs that feature.

So cool!

My F150 Lightning does not have it.
It's only available on the $80K+ Lightnings...

My incoming '23 Premium looking forward to it!

thanks!

I am a big fan, no more bringing keys to the gym, honestly why carry an EXTRA item, already have the phone everywhere. Once my wife called locked out of the car across town, from the grocery store I opened it, and she was all set. The other nice feature is you can track your car at all times, so if someone else is using it you can see if they are close...Comes in handy when picking up the kids.

Just curious, why wrap the fob in foil? I get that the foil stops it from being sensed by the car, but why do you need to do that. What is wrong with the car just using the fob when you have it with you? Why block the signal with foil? (Honestly trying to understand, not trolling :))
Good question. I don't put the fob in my pocket. It is in my laptop bag. On rare occasion I leave my laptop in the car and if not wrapped in foil the car would try to stop me from locking it. And I don't want to confuse it since I sometimes put my bag in the hatch area - not sure how the car would react to that.

The fob is only an emergency backup.

While waiting for my GT to get here I’ve been reading the owners manual. While I like the idea of the PAAK I’m concerned that a minor glitch in the matrix could leave me stranded somewhere. Is this a valid fear or is the system robust enough to not worry?
It’s been buggy to the point where i just carry the dongle…. Just got some update that says the phone as key has improved

Yes you can have up to 4. Haven't tried setting up hers though, the phone requires security, fingerprint or pin type, she didn't have a lock on her phone so I never bothered
