I'm a recent full-time PAAK conversion. But I didn't like the hassle of turning Bluetooth on and opening FordPass for PAAK and then turning Bluetooth back off to save phone battery when I wasn't driving.

I found an App called Phone Profiles Plus on Google play that allows me to set up profiles and change settings by clicking an icon on my home screen. It works pretty well. The PAAK Profile turns on Bluetooth and opens FordPass while No PAAK profile turns Bluetooth off. It's been working great and has a ton of other features I haven't used yet. Just thought I'd share with my fellow Android users.

The icon descriptions crack me up. :)
Nice tip. I too like to turn off Bluetooth to save battery....usually on the weekends. So I can use this to allow my phone to connect to the car.
I use Faak almost exclusively so my icons might say FaaK and FaaK +
:)

Does having Bluetooth on really cause a battery drain on your phone? I never turned Bluetooth off and have never had a battery drain issue.

I believe it is a myth that turning off Bluetooth is a power saver.

Bluetooth only draws a measurable amount of power when being actively used like when streaming audio to Bluetooth headphones.

I read on the internet that it does, so it has to be true, right? LOL, Actually I don't know. Haven't compared battery usage with and without Bluetooth. I've just always shut it off when I didn't need it. I assumed it sent and listened for signals at some interval and that had to use some amount of power.

Bluetooth shouldn't be drawing much, if any, power while on and not in use. Put your phone in discover mode (where it is looking for devices,) or in streaming music lets say and sure, power draw is greater. But just walking around waiting to be connected to whatever device you connect to it (headphones, a car, etc. ) not so much.

https://www.androidauthority.com/does-bluetooth-drain-battery-1145853/ indicates it is a myth that turning off Bluetooth will save you battery usage all that much.

Even if it saved some, plopping it on a charger for a few minutes would overcome that some quite fast. Put it on the center console while you are driving. ;)

I run BT 24/7 as I have a smart arse watch. Battery consumption has never been an issue.
What I do find annoying is having to dig my phone out of my pocket to start up the Ford Pass app that seems to just nodd off when ever it wants and stop working. They need a background process that will let the PAAK function work more like a key fob.
Ive discovered this after just 2 days of having the car.

Yep, I've noticed that too. I've tried leaving BT and FP on all the time and haven't noticed additional battery drain, but do find that I have to restart FP a lot.
I also work in a facility where we are not allowed to have cell phones. So mine sits in what looks like a PO box in airplane mode most of the day which also impacts FP connectivity. I've went back to using the profile app to turn PAAK off and on occasionally and that seems to be an easy work around to make sure it all works as expected.

Yeah I have to restart FP about an hour later. Just spitballing but it may be an android thing.
