PAAK Simply Does Not Work!

I can get car play to work and I can get Ford Pass to see the car and lock the doors, but I can not get PAAK to complete. After copying the code in PAAK setup, it always fails after a few minutes. I have removed my phone and started from scratch at least 12 times to no avail. This is not something I can bring in to my dealer since I'm not leaving my phone obviously, and they won't sit there and help me while I wait, so I guess I'm just out of lick on this?

Ford says that carplay should not be enabled when setting up PAAK. Is that correct? I have tried without car play on at least once or twice unsuccessful though.

I had the same problem, PAAK not working, until I turned off the phone's ad blocker.

Yeah, that's how it works. It's the same with an iPhone.

That’s not how mine works - most of the time. I always have the FordPass app running, but usually in the background and my phone in my pocket with the screen off. That’s usually enough to open the door. Sometimes, I have to physically pull out the phone and tap the FP app.

FordPass is running in the background, so that is how yours works.

Also noticed you’re running iOS 16.1, which is still in beta release. I know they’re mucking about with CarPlay, but I don’t know if they’re also playing in the Bluetooth stack; that could possibly be an issue too.

It should run as a service, should not need to have the app open or 'in the background' I. E you still see it as an app when you press on the card view thing whatever its called now.

But if its meant to be that I have to open the app and never dismiss it... Then its working fine... Although it randomly opened my frunk w I used door code to get in

FordPass is running in the background, so that is how yours works.

But that’s not what he said and not what you seconded. “Open and running” to me, means I’m looking at it on the screen. “Running in the background” in my pocket is a different condition. You don‘t have to have it open and running to work, only running in the background, most of the time.

Running in the background is open and running. Closing the app by force killing it will stop PaaK from working. He clarified what he meant in the post right before yours (running in the background).
