I would definitely recommend the sunshade. I live in a hot desert area and the heat and light coming through It are never distracting. I think it's amazing how well it keeps the heat out. I considered buying a sunshade for when the temperatures got into the triple digits everyday but it was never necessary. I don't know what they use to tint that glass but it's incredibly effective.

I’m about to order a 2025 GT and am on the fence about the panoramic roof. Just wondering if anyone who has the glass roof would recommend otherwise. Also curious if any uses a sunshade on the roof.

I have a panoramic roof in my current car but always leave the built-in shade closed in the warmer months. Wondering if I should skip it this time.
Gets hot & with much glare here in Brisbane Australia - the glare effects my eyes more than heat on the head etc. I got an AOSK sunshade, macthes the roof liner, works very well, easy to fit & remove & not too much money.

I really like it. Was perfectly fine through the winter (I live in the northeast, Philadelphia area). We will see how the summer goes, but so far no need for a sunshade.

I originally ordered a Rally. When the car arrived, my kids jumped in the back seat and their first comment was it felt dark and claustrophobic. Especially with the dark interior and sloped roofline. They then jumped in another MachE parked nearby with a pano roof and the difference was night and day. I ended up walking away from the Rally and ordered the same spec car in a GT + Pano. I don’t regret that decision whatsoever.

Living in SoCal I had concerns about the glass making the cabin too hot, so I ordered a cover off Amazon. Fit and quality was A+. I had it installed it for a few months, and then one day decided to remove it and actually enjoy the glass (it’s a bit of a pain to install and remove on a daily basis). Needless to say, it’s been off since and I don’t have any complaints about the glass making the cabin too warm. It’s already factory tinted which helps.

The pano is a must IMO. Wish they would offer the Rally with glass (I bet almost all Rally’s would get ordered with it). I get the reasons why but let’s be real about how this car is being used for 99% of owners.

Have had my panoramic roof for going on 4 years on my '21 Premium. Never had a shade.... don't need it....no problem with heat or glare. Really glad I have it.

I went from metal roof to glass just because that was what was available. In the front seat you really don’t even seen it. Probably nice for the kids in the back seat. I don’t think it’s worth the cost. There is also a noticeable mismatch in level between the windshield and the glass roof on mine which I feel adds to wind noise and can’t be good for aerodynamics.

I’ve had a Mach E Premium as a rental for a few months (for work/travel) and this one developed a large crack in the roof. One warmer days I wear a hat as I can feel the heat on top of my head.
While I like the look of the pano roof, I would not miss it. Might be ok for the view for rear seat passengers, but as a driver? Nah. Its not worth the money to me. If I were to buy one, I’d get the Rally anyway and I don’t think its even an option.

I'm also 6-1 and have never once noticed a clearance problem. I like the pano roof because it brightens the interior and maybe warms up the interior a bit during the winter. But I have to admit that I left my cover in place during this past winter. Bottom line, I pretty much never even think about the pano roof.

I have a 2022 Premium with the glass roof. Put in a sunshade in the first month and have never removed it. When I'm driving, I watch the road, not the sky. An old style moon roof that will pop up to ventilate the car would be much more useful.

I like my shade in all the time. Lets a little light in but not the glaring heat of the summer. Also I lioke the look from outside better with the black glass than without.

I live in the mid Atlantic regions (Philadelphia suburbs) and have never noticed excessive heat from the panoramic roof. In fact, I’d argue (with no evidence) that the car’s interior is cooler on a hot summer day than the interior of the Escape (with a sunroof) that it replaced.
I’ve read that people in warmer climates (like FL and AZ) have been happy without sunshades, but Ford does have one available through Ford Accessories if you’re concerned.

I had the pano roof on my Mach E Premium.

I would not choose one again.

It looks very appealing from the outside of the car but in over 75,000 miles as the driver I found that I never "looked up". In that sense, the expense didn't make sense.

Additionally, when I drove in the cold months including in New England, Wisconsin and Minnesota, and the Colorado Rocky Mountains, I found that all the cabin heat went up and out right through the pano roof. Since cabin heat in cold weather is generated from the HV battery, it was an additional waste of range, decreased as it was during cold weather.

Therefore, when I traded the Mach E for a Lightning I made doubly sure I bought the one with a solid roof.

Hope this helps...

I’m in Florida and at first I was afraid it might get hot, but that hasn’t been the case at all. The magic coating does work.
