I had Mr. Ed at the dealer today for routine maintenance, and some updates (which, of course, they have an error code they can't get rid of for the frunk, but I took the car home because I need it tomorrow). Any way, they said an update was received from Ford last Friday, from SSSE (?), saying the windshield and panoramic roof recalls are on hold, because they can't find anyone to complete the services.

A recall on hold??

I don’t know who SSSE is and I have never heard of a recall being put on hold. Since it’s a safety recall, the manufacturer, and by extension the dealers need to do everything possible to correct the cause of the recall. It could just be that (as was indicated in your last sentence) nobody can do the work right now. Perhaps call to another dealer or two to see if they can perform the recall? ?‍♂?

So it sounds like they did the BCM update without doing the GFM update and left you with a "Frunk Service Required" message at startup and little icon on the instrument panel that shows that your Frunk is ajar. Would that be correct?

Try another dealer, Ford corporate wouldnt be doing the recalls for the windshield/roof. Dealers do them, either in house and they ship them out to a window repair place. Maybe the people your dealer works with is way back Upped.

That would be SSSC (special service support center), and no the recalls are still live, I just checked.

Your dealer needs a body shop to to the glass recalls, and they don't have one then they can't do the recalls unless they hire it out. You'll need to find another dealer with a body shop to do the recall then. The recalls are NOT on hold.

And as mentioned they need to do the GFM module update to get rid of your frunk message. Tell them to look up SSM 51044.

I had a dealer say they couldn’t do it bc they couldn’t find a vendor willing. Found a more urban dealer who used a higher end body shop that did it no problem. Shop around for another dealer.

I’m on month 5, almost month 6 waiting for the glass recalls to be done. No one at the dealer can do the work required to prep the car for a glass shop and no glass shop will do the work without the prep. Something like that is probably what the op is facing as well.

I don't know what order they did the updates in, but I wish you'd been there. Today they said they're working with Ford engineers, and they'll call me back. I am standing by.

This dealership is in the SF Bay Area. They have claimed for months that not one windshield shop in Marin will work with them. I am supposed to be getting a call back from another dealer, in Sonoma County, but it seems they've lost my number. I'm working on the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" theory for now.

I know it's kinda far for you, but I've had great luck with Putnam Ford in San Mateo. That said, I have a 2022 which didn't need the glass recalls. But they did do some other bodywork for me to replace a part that was scratched when I purchased the car (from another dealership).
