[Linux Admin] oh lordy.
Indeed. I would love to strip this thing down to the bare source code and find all of the real problems for them and I have the skillset to do so. But who's supposed to be paying who in that scenario? And that would be a helluva lot more expensive than the car payment. That sure as hell ain't going to happen in the back of any local dealership.

Their remote start design was nice until it just stopped working. The phone app has to communicate through the cloud API's and the car is hitting the cloud via its LTE modem so it actually doesn't connect to the phone over the web. This works anywhere in the world with cloud connectivity and it switches to a direct bluetooth connection when the phone is near the car. It's a decent idea. The darkened options on the app let you know exactly when you are out of range to control the car directly and the basic options are always available from the cloud connection. Those bluetooth features are still working, it's just the "Bluetooth as a Key" that is gone. This means that even if you use the remote start, you still cannot drive it. We only have the 1 fob and it's my wife's car so I was just happily using my phone as a key. For a car this expensive, we would normally never accept only 1 keyfob but it didn't matter because bluetooth is here! Luckily when it glitched it stranded me in our driveway and not some other random place. I think my wife's app with owner rights can override that remotely and tell it to full start and drive from the cloud but I'm not sure.

You can in theory still get going by putting your back-up password in on the touchscreen. But again, this is just unacceptable for a luxury car less than 6 months in. Thankfully we now know about the issue. Frankly, we had set up our 13 y.o. daughter's phone as a key as well and explained to her that no laws of mankind apply when her personal safety is concerned. We will just ensure that she has access to real keyfobs in the future.

Again, I think sometimes a fella just needs to rant.
But I don't take the actual words spoken during a rant as literate, just as I don't take the nasty things we might say to a loved one when we are angry.

But having said that, you are now posting hours/days after the rant, so I take the words with less margin for mercy now, if you know what I mean. And if I read the description of the issues you just stated, they are the camera view popping up on Sync, and the reverse brake assist being over sensitive in the driveway.
By the way, reverse brake assist isn't likely to kick in while you are traveling forward down the interstate.

I'm just saying that after you cooled off, I was hoping the issues with the car itself would seem less serious.

The issues with dealerships?
I'm not touching that.
They don't get the benefit of the doubt from me until they earn it. They can be so bad. My mission is to never let the dealership steal my joy. Especially not letting them ruin my enjoyment of the vehicle ownership experience.

The Fam had and was pleased with a 2001-ish Ford Ranger, a 2004-ish Ford Mustang convertible, and a 2017 Ford C-Max. Do you see a pattern?

Got a deal on a gorgeous red used 2021 Mach-E 24000 miles only 6 months ago from a famous local Ford dealership. Made an account here immediately because I was very exited to learn all the features. Don't think I ever came up with anything to ask that a lot of banging my head on YouTube couldn't answer though.

Now we're done. We want out and we are getting out one way or the other. Bluetooth as a key just stopped completely after a software update. Our phone's gleefully let us know we are connected successfully to the car. The car doesn't care. The whole touchscreen system freezes and reboots while you are driving it! The adaptive cruise malfunctions every day. If you have the cruise off it just annoys you with sensor fault messages and beeps. If the cruise is on, it cancels itself and starts slowing down on regen immediately. Basically the car randomly brake checks the car behind you. The app will ding our phones at 3 or 4 in the morning to let us know that sensor has a problem when not a soul has touched the car for hours. We all know the hands-free system is a joke. We all know that the Nav system is a joke. Which is made even more hilarious by the fact that those are subscription services that expires soon. Good riddance! If you want to get where you are going, Ford's maps ain't gonna cut it anyway. We all know that public charging is possible in a pinch, but never works on the first try, 2nd try, sometimes 3rd try. You'd better get all of the 3rd party charging apps if you are planning on going on any trip. And don't bank on being able use the 1st one you can reach, better have a back-up plan!

Sometimes the driver side window can't roll itself up. Note that it's only the auto-up feature. It always works when you do it the old fashioned way. I didn't even know that was possible to malfunction! The motor obviously works and moves the window just fine. It just cannot activate the auto-up when you least expect it. In other words, you can roll all of the windows down from your phone app. But when you roll them all back up from same app, they all go up except the driver's. Get in and start the car. You can still roll the window up normally. Note that you'd better have the key to start it. Just because your phone app can remote start it or move the windows in no way implies that the Bluetooth as a Key function will actually work. But be careful. If you are just treating it like a very expensive luxury car , you might hit the auto-up manually. The window will jog up a little bit and then stop. So if you are in a hurry and in the habit of driving functional cars, this one might get rained in for a while because you didn't notice the window moved but didn't finish the auto-up. I didn't know that I needed to constantly double-check that but now I do.

Well today, only about 6 months in, we inquired about its trade-in value. Big mistake! The car is more valuable at the bottom of the ocean than it is in our driveway. Ford wants to say it has to take value hit because it's not getting any younger. That's nice. Please tell us when do you plan to start beta testing the cars for the 2021 model year? Are any of the advertised conveniences going to be functional and stable before anyone gets them paid off? The dealership offers a 72 hour return and swap policy with no questions asked. That's fantastic when Ford is going to break the car remotely with software updates a couple weeks later.

So is it all Mach-E's with issues or just ours? Not that it really matters. Either way it will be a cold day in Hell before we make another payment on this one. Proudly financed through Ford Motor Credit - they can come pick it up at their convenience. There's an old saying that's key here.
If you owe a bank $10 thousand and can't pay it, you have a problem. If you owe a bank $10 million and can't pay it, they have a problem. Well when a $50k car isn't even worth $10k as spare parts, FORD has a big problem and they cannot say we didn't give it an honest shot.

Anyone want to buy it? It's very pretty and red and doesn't have any panel fit issues like a Tesla! We're willing to part with it for just the payoff amount.
Um, no, it is not that all Mach-E's are as bad as what you are describing. Most aren't anywhere near that bad. My 2023 CR1 has been great. An occasional issue with the center screen not turning on or freezing, maybe half a dozen times in 19,000 miles of driving, but that's it for issues. Nothing a quick reboot of the car can't fix. Your car shouldn't have all these issues. If you haven't tried seeing if a different service department could help you more, I would try that. Sorry you are having a rough time with the car.

Yeah, re-pair your phone. PAAK works fine until it doesn't and this is not a Ford/MachE issue. Tesla's drop it too. What Telsa doesn't have is a backup door code and start password so you can still get in and drive your car even if you don't have that fob. Your daughter will not be stranded.

My PAAK worked great until it didn't. I was frustrated with it for awhile but the I re-paired it and it is fine ever since.

There is a lot of drama/hyperbole in your posts. It makes them entertaining. But since you decided that using a service department of a dealership you hate or even contacting Ford directly is not something that you are willing to do then obviously defaulting on your loan is the only option left!? You do you!
