Police Modifier Bulletin for adding 12 Volt Accessories (GT specific)

This bulletin has some great info on how the 12 volt battery charges, how to install high amperage 12v accessories, and goes into a little detail about how the BMS works. If you have the GT, you have a better DC to DC inverter than the other models... if you plan on adding lights, big stereo, or car camping, this is a great read.

Interesting read. This answers the question of can you replace the LV battery with an after market or other type. Short answer is no unless it has the exact same specs. The BMS is calibrated to only work with the factory AGM battery.

I missed that about battery type. The battery tray has additional mounting holes for a larger battery (35ah is tiny). As long as the replacement is an AGM, then the bms shouldn't work any differently. Battery charge level is based on voltage, and the bms should measure that, along with the load being placed on the battery.

On other Ford makes you can use Forscan to reprogram for a new battery size. I did precisely this on my 2021 Escape PHEV (also ships with a miniscule battery, but the tray is sized to take a battery for an F-150). I'm not sure if Forscan supports this yet for Mach E.
