Another dealer here in MA told me FOrd Options was not available in MA. I put my zip code in on the Ford X Plan Incentive page and showed them the incentives available. They said they couldn't find in "their" system when they entered my info so to them it does not exist. They really don't care either because they will probably end up selling over MSRP to someone who won't put up a fight.
Sounds like my dealer. They are all clueless, and that is largely Ford/FMC's fault.

I wouldn't be too quick to blame Ford. The dealers have been provided information and training. It sounds like they are actively refusing to use Options even when they know the program exists.

The incentive ($2500 in my case) comes from Ford Credit/Corporate right? Why are the dealers so set agaist honoring if it doesn't affect their bottom line? Too much work for them? Or is it that they don't want to deal with an educated buyer and, instead, wait to fleece the next unaware buyer?

Mine absolutely has not. About that I have no doubt.

Just because they didn't pay any attention does not mean they didn't get the information. ;)

Yes, the incentive comes from the manufacturer. As far as why they are so reluctant, only they can answer that.

I just did a mock (Mach?) build up of a Mach-E to see the incentives on Ford Options... looks like the 1000 is extended until 9/30 now.... I realize other locations have more incentives. :)

Hi Will -

Thanks for checking in. Between Hurricane Elsa and losing one of our dogs to a freak accident the day I got the car, it's been an exhausting blur.

But, yes, I got it on Saturday. I had to make the redo all the numbers. They didn't even give my credit for the $500 deposit (saying that it usually gets refunded to buyers' cards...total BS), never mind X Plan. Again this is all despite my "completing the purchase" and the Options Financing online. They had also thrown in a couple add-ons for dent and appearance protection packages. Of course, none of this was detailed on what he first gave me to sign. It just started with the price, so I had to ask for the breakdown. Good lord.

They finally did get it all straightened out the way I wanted it and admitted that the Options program is a good one. I do believe they knew zilch about it and had to work it into their system. MME buyers prior to me (not that there have been many thus far...like 5) just gave up when asking them about Options and being told it wasn't available.

Didn't even have the car fully charged.

Aside from that it was a great experience! Haha.. Finally have my car, but as you can imagine I haven't really had the chance to fully get to know or enjoy it.

Thanks, Will. Yeah, we're not far from you at all, out at the beaches, which were supposed to get the absolute worst of it. And it's only July....sigh.

I keep getting these reach-out texts and emails from the dealership to see how it's going and to rate things. I'm trying to be nice, by ignoring them.

Both the finance and sales guys made a huge point of saying that it's "death" for them if they get less than 5 (i.e. max) stars, especially while they only have something like 15 cars to sell a month. The salesman read me and said to please delete the email rather than respond if I couldn't give 5 stars. Still pondering!

I am having to educate my dealer on "Ford Options". The salesman hasn't heard of it and is checking with the sales manager. It's been a few hours so I stumped them.

This is my plan so far based on everything I've read on this forum:

  1. wait until I can get my VIN before doing anything (IE order on Ford website shows a scheduled production date I believe.)
  2. wait until I have a week or so before that scheduled production date to get my window sticker.
  3. Reach out to the dealer via email (if they haven't reached out to me yet) to tell them how excited I am about my production date and window sticker... have their minds blown.
  4. mention Ford Options at that time, how great it is and how much I am looking forwarded to coming in an expediting the purchase process with their finance department... with links to fords site where they show the Options details, as well as the hopefully existing incentive numbers etc. at that time.
  5. Reaching back out to them a couple weeks before expected delivery of the vehicle to determine if their finance department understands Ford Options and that it isn't a lease etc. etc. and that they'll be ready when I come in.
  6. ???
  7. Profit.

At this point I'm just gonna not talk to the dealer about options, since it sounds like they won't do the job anyway

If you're comfortable leaving $1,000-2,500 on the table, go for it. ?
