In a pure function over form decision, any Tesla beats any other EV, at least for the time being. But that's the pure play, and no decision is made in a vacuum. The Mach e is good looking but it's not, as @RedStallion pointed out, THAT good looking. It gets style points over Tesla for sure. I finally have some good routes for pushing the car a bit, and it's not as capable as my Tesla 3 Performance stealth was. It's well behaved at the edges, but I don't think I ought to be able to reach those edges where I do. To choose a Mach e over a Tesla, you have to add in some consideration for form or you'd never choose it.
In the end, none of that mattered, because it checked the most important "function" element - it was available in time. It also got all the tax credits, and it put one more Ford EV nameplate in front of coal-rolling morons. It is pretty fast, and it's pretty good looking, and it's certainly handy to have the space. Hopefully Ford kicks it into gear and just Model T the hell out of EVs - make them quickly and make them affordable, as the potential for that was another point in favor of the Mach e for me.
