This worthwhile discussion is pretty much why I prefer to use my portable yet now ancient EVSE from a now-defunct outfit named EVSEUpgrade, which is auto-switching between 120V and 240V (a rarity back in 2011) and also user-adjustable for between 1 and a max of 20 amps. The Panasonic unit originally labeled for Nissan and modded by EVSEUpgrade is built very well and has never failed me between three plug-in cars and hundreds of thousands of miles across the continent, with plugged-in recharging from HVAC receptacles, welder receptacles, NEMA 14-50 receptacles, TTY 30-amp receptacles and normal household receptacles. And 20 amps at 240V is pretty much safe for any 240V circuit I've encountered.

This old EVSE also has a universal NEMA L60-30R plug, so every NEMA connector out there with a corresponding female end can fit (no vendor lock unlike with the Ford or my son's Audi portable EVSEs).

For those interested, these older EVSEUpgrade units can occasionally be found, used, on EBay.

Ford Mobile Charger is 32amps. 32 x 240 = 7.7kW BEFORE loss to vehicle.

Max charging rate for the Mach-E is 48amps. 48 x 240 = 11.5kW BEFORE loss to vehicle.

So, 12kWh isn't possible.
Your math is right. I will confirm it on my next trip. Perhaps it was a glitch perhaps I was past of beers.

What EVSE are you using for this? No UL-certified 14-50 pluggable EVSE will allow more than 40 amps. If you are seeing 12kw in Fordpass, I expect there is something wrong with the monitoring mechanism, since this would require 53-55amps at the plug.
Maybe so. I will rectify next chance I get.

A lot of people on here saying you can’t put a smaller breaker than the receptacle rating, but no one has cited a code reference.

Hint - there isn’t one!
