'Precondition Now' Button

Would you still want a "Precondition Now" button if you had to wait 45 minutes or longer?

Please answer the poll considering that it might take an hour or longer to fully precondition a cold car in the winter (that's just how long it takes to warm up both the battery and cabin). If you left early, the cabin would still be cold because the battery is heated first.

Scenario: You wake up in the morning and want to go somewhere unexpectedly (and you didn't have a departure time set). You hit the "Precondition Now" button in FordPass around 8 AM, and you are told you have to wait until about 9 AM. How does this make you feel? Would you wait or not?

This is my vision of what such a feature might look like in FordPass. The "View Chargers" button would turn into "Precondition Now" when you are plugged in. When you hit the precondition button, the battery would start heating and FordPass would display the estimated time to finish. While running, you'd have the option to stop preconditioning or switch to remote start (cabin heating only).

If they didn't tie it to a profile, because I never made a profile and don't intend to, I would use it. But to my understanding, you just need to reach 72f degrees. My present garage never goes below 65. It's almost preconditioned anyways.

I would vote "Yes and…" if that was an option. That "and…" is for more ways for preconditioning to be triggered.

Example A:
My iPhone has my calendar with events that have location. My phone alerts me when I should start leaving to arrive at my destination. I would love if my phone was able to trigger preconditioning at the right time. Obviously that's *everyone* supporting a protocol to do that. But if the pieces were put together, it would be pretty slick.

Example B:
The communication with Maps applications allow allowed for precondition triggers when on longer road trips. I'm hoping this will be announced for WWDC for iPhones this year…

Why would it take so long to precondition? My car only takes 15 minutes at most when I set the departure time.
Because you're only observing the cabin temp, not the battery temp. You also live in GA, which isn't known for its cold temperatures.

You are talking about just the cabin temp. It takes a lot longer for the car to precondition the battery pack to the right temperature, especially when the car is parked in sub freezing temps.

Departure settings are supposed to precondition your battery, not just your cabin. Are we talking plugged in or not plugged in? When I'm on my charger, it's 15 minutes

Absolutely would love this option. Even if you can't wait the full time, you are starting off with a warmer battery than if you didn't do anything.

I would also love this to be combined with a "charge to 100%" option so it heats the battery and adds as much charge as it can.

You are in GA. Have you tested that timeframe in sub-zero temps?

I think this would be useful. Living in Montreal Canada. On some of the coldest days, I definitely noticed differences when the car was pre-conditioned in terms of range and cabin temperature management. To be able to do it on the fly with a wait would be beneficial FOR SURE.

I was just trying to get clarification on functionality. Yes I'm in GA but we do get weather below freezing here
You have the functionality right, but below freezing (i.e. near 30F) is very different from -10F.
