Hi,
It looks like my car is preconditioning the battery when make a route to a fast charger with  maps.
It’s 9 degrees cel.
Normally I always make a route with Ford navigation when I need to fast charge for having preconditioning.
But now I just made a route to my home with  maps. And it added a fast charger.
So I was thinking when I almost reached the fast charger. Now it will start charging really slow to heat up the battery first.
but it started to charge at 156KW.
Someone else noticed this?
Or do i getting crazy? ?
I will test it asap another time.
and watch Car-scanner.

You need to watch with Car Scanner to see battery temp.

I checked immediately after the charging started at +150KW.
and it was more then 20 degrees Celsius.
so that’s why I was thinking,
It preconditioned with  maps.
that’s why I asked if someone else noticed the same.

Definitely curious about this as well. It’s definitely possible to since maps would be sending similar data to the cars modules to display turn by turn but the cars system would need to then do something with it.

@Mach-Lee care to test it out? I don’t use a scanner app.

It’s old powerup for you guys in the US. ?
iOS 17.1
I try to set a fast charger in  maps when battery is cold again. And check again in car scanner to be 100% sure.

At 20°C you wouldn't need pre-conditioning. Apple maps will add DC Fast Chargers ... but I don't think it can tell the car to start pre-conditioning the battery temp.

I use both maps at the same time ford map is set with the charging station volume off. Then set the Apple map to navigate. I don’t think Apple map preconditions

I did try Apple and Google maps earlier this year, but nothing happened. I can try again, but I’m not sure how the phone would tell the car it’s going to a charger.

I just think his battery happened to be warm enough already to get full rate.

That's my guess as well. CarPlay does supply iAP meta data to the vehicle for the IP to display, that data could be used to trigger an event for certain tags. It's basically the same information that Ford Nav gives to the system, too but Fords Nav displays more to the end user than CarPlay does. However I do not believe anyone has used CarPlay meta data for preconditioning yet. So if this is in fact true, it's a first in the market situation.

I try it again asap when the battery is cooled down. We will see.
But I was really confused when I started charging, the charge rate was so high.
With an outside temperature from 9 degrees Celsius.
There are two possibilities.
1.  maps is preconditioning the battery with iOS 17.1. Because CarPlay changed internally from iOS 17.
2. I had set a fast charger as a destination at the Ford navigation also. But I don’t think this was the case.

Can't run CarPlay maps and factory NAV at the same time.
When I tried this recently (with google maps) it bounced me out of the Nav one.

edit: meant this in response to comment from @737flyer

As per @CarGuy11 and @RMoore, while you can flip back and forth between the various maps options (Ford Nav, Apple Maps via CarPlay, etc.), you can't have multiple destinations active simultaneously. If you try to set a destination on a maps app after previously having set a destination on another app, the second app's destination supersedes the previous app's destination. The Mach E prevents dueling map apps...
