If you are outside your preset charge window ( say it was 7pm to 7 am ), I’m plugged in to my dumb l2 grizzly-e charger. If I precondition outside of the set charge window ( I tell the car to warm up at say 9 am ) - where will it draw its power from? The charger or the battery? ( The question really is, is there any value preconditioning outside your set charge window? )

Note that battery preconditioning will only take place if you are using a Departure Time. If you do a Remote Start (the Fan icon in FordPass 5.7.0 and up) it only warms or cools the cabin. ??

Answering my own question. - and the comments on departure times - yes there should be a simple precondition button - then I find this in the departure window of the app -

That may not answer your question. What the car prioritizes is your charge target, say 90%. If that can’t be reached in your charge window due to your departure time it will begin charging prior to your window so that your car is fully charged at your selected departure time. I am unsure if setting a precondition time outside the charge window has that same overriding effect.

It's called "preferred" charge time for a reason, AKA it can still charge outside of that window at times.

As mentioned, it will charge outside of preferred times if the charge window is not long enough to reach the target charge, or if you perform a departure time or remote start while plugged in.

You would precondition outside of the charge window so you don't deplete the battery. The main point of preconditioning is to improve range.

If they set the car to charge to 90%, most people want to get in and see it's still at 90% after a remote start while plugged in, so that's why it draws power from the wall.
