Three weeks ago, I took my 2021 MME AWD to the dealer for its 30k service. They performed the 22P31 CSP and as a result, the parking brakes locked up. To try to remedy that, other things were done but without success. Now I'm told that they need to replace some parking brake part on each wheel (I don't remember what it's called). I guess the parts differ by side because they have the part for one side but not the other. I've spoken with the service director and GM at the dealer, and also a customer service person at Ford. The Ford guy called me today to say, in the most positive and pleasant manner, that the part is unavailable from the parts supplier and that there is no timetable for when they might have it.

What are my options? What is realistically possible without going the legal route? I really love the car and I've had no problems up until this, but of what use is an undriveable car? Would Ford replace it? Would Ford buy it back? Any suggestions?

Reach out to Ford corporate and try to start a buyback.

If they can’t fix it, you don’t have a car. And that’s not ok.

Good news is you’ll have your pick of the litter on a used Mach E. Plenty around at reasonable prices. Maybe even an excuse to upgrade.

I've been communicating with a customer service person. I emailed him earlier to ask to get a repurchase going. Should I go higher up? Any formulas to calculate what a repurchase amount should be? Thanks.

I'd start by finding out exactly what they broke and exactly what part is required to fix it.

Just for follow-up, it is now one month that my MME is at the dealer due to a failed update. I am told that the electronic parking brake actuators need to be replaced but they are not available and there is no timetable for when they might be. I am now the proud owner of a 2 ton paperweight.

I've been dealing with a customer service rep who is very polite but is useless. Don't take that as a criticism of him but of Ford corporate. He is simply a flak catcher. He told me yesterday that my repurchase request had been denied. Today, his supervisor called me to repeat the same corporate-speak. I'm supposed to sit and twiddle my thumbs like a good boy until the parts become available. Not to mention the HVBJB recall for which there are also no parts.

I emailed Elena Ford last week, who is allegedly the Customer Experience guru. No response. I emailed Jim Farley yesterday but I'm not holding my breath. Despite their regurgitation of how much I'm valued as a customer, I don't believe them.

Don't know what state you are in but check your lemon laws as a vehicle that has been stuck at a dealer for 30 days without being repaired is typically enough to trigger it if applicable.

Lemon laws are not applicable. It is under warranty but it's too old and has too many miles.

Any luck on getting a repurchase? I'm in a very similar situation and got the buyback process going on Friday.

My car has been in the shop for 7 weeks now but falls outside of the criteria for me to file a lemon law claim.

Alas, no. Despite the totality of the Ford organization searching diligently for the needed parts, they remain unavailable. I have nothing positive to report but the flak catchers are exceedingly polite.

That's awful. My parts are available thankfully, but Ford is engineering a fix for my issue. The dealer has attempted four fixes on the car with no success.
