So then when you walk up to the car, do the mirrors unfold thereby turning off the puddle lights? Maybe that's why people are having such a hard time seeing them?

I beleive the mirrors don't unfold until you press the button to open the door.

Yeah I don't see them unfolding and folding again while I shovel the snow and the car keeps waking up LOL.

The car doesn't unlock until I press the door release button. Once I do that it unlocks and the mirrors unfold.

(At least this is how I remember it. I will test this evening to see exactly what happens.)

Ah, okay. Is there a mechanical lock that engages when you lock or unlock the car? Or is it really just logic that tells the actuators in the door not to function when it's locked?

I think there is something mechanical as you can hear it lock/unlock.

Can you hear it lock when you drive away? I have an irrational dislike of my cars locking themselves when I drive away, so I've always disabled that. But the owner's manual suggests that there may not be a way to disable it in the MME.

Yes you can. Its pretty quick as soon as the car starts moving too. Its not loud but you can definitely hear it in all the doors.

Thanks. I'll ask the dealer if they have a way to disable it. I know it's irrational, but it just irks me.

You can disable it within settings I believe. In fact I want to say I purposefully turned it on, but I could be mistaken. I will try to remember to look again tonight.
