I own a Mach E Premium ER AWD since Feb 2021. It has been the only vehicle in our household. My wife and I are planning to buy a second vehicle. We've decided to get a second Mach E, likely in October this year. I'm considering used or new. I live in California.

I've got a few questions about model year differences.

1. MY2021 offers the option to buy Blue Cruise at $600 for the first 3 years. MY 2022 has BlueCruise free for 3 years. Same for MY 2023 job 1. MY 2023 job 2 offers only 3 free months, and costs $800 for annual subscription.
2. Ford mobile charger was removed since 2023 job 2, and costs $500.
3. Is there way to determine whether a Mach E is 2023 Job 1 or 2023 Job 2 without looking at the window sticker? (Is there any indication in the VIN?)
4. Park Assist, acoustic side glass, and hands-free liftgate were removed at some point. I don't care about any of these three.
5. HVBJB is problematic in 2021 and some 2022.
6. What are the major differences between MY 2023 Premium and MY 2024 Premium? Here's the ones I know: (1) the 4-way head rest in Premium trim is removed in MY2024 (2) 0-60 is faster for all battery/motor configurations in MY2024 (3) Glass roof is now optional, and costs $1500.
7. Anything else I'm missing?

I think the MY2024 are using a heat pump.

#2 just means that you don’t have to throw away the FMC so that you can have a reliable portable EVSE. I bought a Tesla portable. ?‍♂?

#5 is something that can be warranty repaired. Since the most recent versions of the HVBJBs was released in November, almost all the 2023s have the same HVBJB as the corresponding 2022 Job2 cars. ??

The Kick to Open liftgate hardware is present in 2021 and 2022 cars. The software in the 2022 cars has it deactivated. This can be changed using FORScan. ??

There are other minor differences (like 10 way power seats for 2024 and color differences by year).

But you’ve already said some of these things don’t matter to you.

A better question if you’re comparing new to used would be: What is important to you?

2021 to 2024 are basically the same vehicle with minor tweaks. HVBJB was recalled and replaced so they should all be using the same one at this point.

So I have a 2022 with the liftgate kick option posted on the window sticker. As I look under the car, I don’t see the hardware. I’m not a computer programmer, how can II work with FORcan? Or should I just take the car to the dealer under warranty?

LOL the dealer isn’t going to do anything about it. See the DIY thread. ?

Thanks, HuntingPudel. But, as I said, I don't do programing. (I can balance two carbs on a 240Zed, but that's mechanical). S0, I must ask about the language y'all use: Is Forescan an app or program on your iPhone, or on the car screen? If I must have Forscan (or FDRS), I can't do this...

FORScan is a PC program. The thread I linked is a cookbook on how to activate the feature. It is not programming. It’s certainly easier than balancing a multi-carburetor engine. ?‍♂?

Sorry, I don't follow. Is the FORScan in the car computer? (Ii don't do PC, I have Mac). Then I don't know what APIM and BCM are. I did do an As-Built run and see the row

I am thinking I don't want to touch this. As some say, I don't want to turn my car into a brick. Is there anywhere I can take the car and pay someone to do this for me?
