So not a Ford fob from a dealer?
No, it was from ebay, from a link posted earlier in this thread. I think the price went up a little but it's probably still available.

edit to add: this price is inclusive of the fob and the blank key. fob 265, key 165 plus shop rate for programming and not sure if they have an hour min. PLUS 13% hst. So let’s say shop rate is 65 and they have an hour min, getting a fob from this dealer would cost me about $538. That is ridiculous.

so I asked a simple question - what is special about these fobs? I can’t see what could justify the price. Read into the question as you want.

Julia, I agree with you. $538 for a spare fob is ridiculous. Plus, no one should have to go thru the aggravation of getting a second key fob.

When word of that gets out we will never know how many people will say "No Way", and look elsewhere.

Mention has been made that fobs from other manufacturers are more expensive than Ford's.

Is there another manufacturer that only delivers one fob with their brand new vehicle?

This post indicates $100k Ram trucks only come with one.

I still contend that virtually no one is making a purchase decision based on how many fobs the vehicle comes with.

Second vehicle for me, my Bolt does not have any lock cylinders either.
Did Chevy change the fob and locks on the 2022 Bolt EV? I know the 2017-21s had a secret blade key for the hidden lock cylinder.

WOW!! I didn’t know that Ram Trucks cost that much! I got mine brand new for $24K but that was 18 years ago! :)
Yeah, crazy right?!? You can load up pick ups from all of the big 3 manufacturers and get close to if not over $100k.

I stand corrected. The slot on the car is so hidden, I had no idea it even existed. Mine is a 2017, and has not gone up in smoke yet. Looking forward to a brand new battery.

I keep having to ask for help, this is driving me nuts.

Got my new MME yesterday. I had the foresight to order a second fob, got it in, no problems. Even got the salesman to get me a quote to get the second fob programmed.

And then the confusion...

I have not spoken to the Parts/Service people directly yet, yet!

So, while we were doing the paperwork I gave the new fob to the salesman, he ran it back to the back and came back 30 seconds later with "they dont know how to do it". I said something to the tune of "Pretend a customer lost one of their fobs, and need a new one. Here is the replacement fob". He was back there for 4-5 minutes this time, when he came back out I heard the guy say "Just have him bring it back tomorrow and ill spend a few hours figuring it out"

Today doesnt work for me, too many meetings but I said I would bring it up there Friday. But I am a little concerned about the few hours bit, dont they have some kind of programmer or ODB2 interface they can just plug in and read the key? Im also a little concerned that they didnt understand the difference between the key and the blade, since there is no blade on the MME.

Anyone able to give me clear directions to give them that I can print out?

Would I be better served by trying other dealers, or a locksmith, Im in central KY, and this is the first MME they sold in my city, their demo was sold to someone in ohio, so there may not be many out there and its a learning experience all around, I can respect that. However, I would think a ford is a ford is a ford when it comes to key fobs?
I purchased a 2nd FOB from https://www.keylessentryremotefob.com/mustang-jr3t-15k601-ab-oem-4-button-key-fob/ which is half the price the dealer wants.. But if you only have one working FOB you have to take it to the dealer to have it programed which they charged my $100 to program.. Once you have 2 programed in your can add a 3rd and 4th yourself.

I can probably live with the 1 hour minimum, I just want the key programmed lol. PaaK just doesnt work, I got it working last night and it wasnt working this morning...
I went through similar issues. I chatted with Ford (one of the few times that has worked) anyway they told me to call parts guy direct and tell them u need a fob not a key and only cost me $149.00 but we’ll worth it. PaaK is crap and key has made me and my wife like the car WAY more not messing with the phone.

I called the dealer I bought from and they quoted me almost $400 for the fob, plus shop rate for programming. Is there something special about the Mach e fob?
Nothing special. I got a ford generic fob without a trunk button that they programmed for me.

I was getting ready to call a few places and I picked up the fob to see what options I had on it. The only difference I can see on this fob is that I have a pony on the back instead of a Ford logo.

so now I’m wondering if the fob and price is specific to the MME for branding.
