Hi all
i placed my order for 22 AWD premium on October 15th. Production 1/31/22 . More of a lurker than a poster. I am on the edge to throw in the towel. The reason is it true that I am not protected from a price increase the dealers says sorry. I do have x plan but it still went up. Today I see a feature I like is going to me be eliminated handsfree trunk open. As a single arm veteran I was looking forward to this feature. Yes I know it still powered but not handsfree. The other issue the elimination of the acoustic side glass Is a want because it make the cabin less nois. This is my retirement car to myself and I don’t want to make an very expensive mistake. Is what I listed above correct and do you think I should pass. I know the dealers doesn’t care because he will just sell with ADM. how hard will it to get my initial 100 plus 500 when I ordered.

Did you mean how hard is it to get your order payment back? we canceled one and got our money back. I just asked to speak with the Finance manager, no problem.

your other option is to request to them and other dealers to call you if they get a canceled earlier Mach E order. explain your reasons and maybe someone can find you one without the eliminated trunk release. Good luck!

That an option true But will get stuck with an adm. I can’t understand how ford can do a price increase and retro it back to October 15 2021 and remove item without a price reduction. Am I missing something or do promise don’t mean jack shit.

Not necessarily true that you will pay ADM when buying off a dealer lot. Certainly, it will take a bit of time to research things, but searching for nearby Mach-Es on Ford’s website and emailing dealerships to ask if they are charging ADM isn’t THAT time consuming. If they give you crap like ‘we’ll see’, or ‘come in and we will figure it out’, assume they will charge ADM and move on, don’t engage.

I can't confirm most of what you discussed above because they are either facts that relate to your situation or your assessment of your needs.

Not tracking on the "...100 plus 500...." Did the dealer charge you to place an order?

What is your maximum timeline?
Are there any forcing functions?
Are these deleted functions essential criteria?

If your timeline is not constrained, and these are essential criteria, then don't buy.

Another thought, you mentioned that is your "retirement car". My 82 year old mother-in-law is on her third. You might have time to correct buying a car that isn't perfect for you.

I can chime in, but it is your call. Good luck.

Just for your FYI, I have owned a Select without acoustic glass and I now have a premium with it, it makes no difference, the Select was quieter.

Ford has not said that the price increase will be retroactive to orders placed before it. Dealers might like to say that, but that doesn’t mean it’s true.

I found my GT at a dealer out of state. It was a cancelled order someone else placed and I took it over. No ADM, and they gave me X-Plan pricing. There are good dealers out there and you can find existing cars without ADM. You just have to be willing to work AutoTrader by contacting lots of dealers, and then be willing to go out of town (or out of state) to get your car.

It took me seven hours to drive home from picking my car up, and it was great because it gave me time to learn about the car. I had to stop to charge twice. As a new BEV owner that was a new experience as well. All in all it was totally worth it.

My car has the kick to open feature but I turned it off because I thought it was too sensitive. It was opening when I did not want it to open. It opened when I walked behind the car and hit my garage door literally the day after I had the car home for the first time. The gash in the hatch was horrifying. If you get the kick to open feature, make sure you set the maximum height below what it can hit prior to this happening to you!

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I recommend searching for a 2021 since the kick to open is so important for you.

The price you were quoted is price protected IF you have some proof of pricing, either a printout from the dealer or original online order printout. If the dealer is hard set on no price protection contact Ford directly and tell them your circumstances and they will help, especially in finding you a 21' model WITH the hands free lift gate and acoustic glass.
I know it sounds repetitive but thank your for your service and sacrifice.

... The reason is it true that I am not protected from a price increase the dealers says sorry...
The dealer I'm working with assures me that my price will be the same as the price quoted when I ordered the 2022 Premium on October 5 and that the X-Plan pricing will be a reduction from that original amount. I was told that there are some steps the dealership will need to follow to override the new MSRP so it doesn't sound like it happens automatically. Also, the reduction of the MSRP applies only if I am the buyer; it doesn't follow the car itself. In other words, if I were to back out of the purchase nobody else would be able to buy that car for that reduced price; the new higher MSRP would apply. This is reinforced online by the window stickers for pending deliveries of special orders at the dealership. The stickers reflect the new higher MSRP while the dealership itself shows a $2k lower price. This is for 2022 Premium models with XR batteries.

I wonder if your dealer just isn't quite up to speed on this issue.

First thank you for your service! Dealers always look to keep your “non refundable” deposit. Unless you signed something that’s says that you shouldn’t have an issue. And if the dealer is good they won’t hold it. I use my credit card when putting down deposits so if they try anything I just dispute the charge, they don’t like that. Good luck with your decision make sure your happy first. This is your retirement present so don’t settle!
