Does anyone have a solution to the rear camera being obscured by rain? I live in the PNW and it's raining all the time now... and the camera is always useless when I need to back up without getting out and wiping it. I've tried coating it with RainX which that didn't help at all. Any other tips or tricks folks have come up with?

Move to San Diego??? :D

We got some rain the other day, the rain did not seem to effect the camera that much. However once it dried it has spotted up the camera something awful.

One suggestion though, Rain-X is meant for glass, I dunno for sure, but I'd assume that covering is plastic. You could try to get Rain-X that is designed for use on plastic helmet shields. I'll have to look to see if I still have some laying around, supposed to rain cats and dogs tomorrow.

Take back what I said, the back camera is as useless as a wooden frying pan when raining.

There was a small pole back there someplace. Imagine my horror as I had to actually twist my body to look back through my back window to backup. Man... I don't think I've done that for at least 10 yrs :)

LOL my rear camera is useful for about a day after I get the car washed. After that it invariably gets obscured by grime, water, dirt, etc.

I'm so sad Ford decided not to include a washer jet for the rear camera. My Edge has one and it's great in this exact situation.

I live in MN and we just entered snow and slosh season, my camera went from perfect most of the time to perfectly worthless.

I was just wondering if anyone had tried something like this little sheild.

this always works for me and i get snow / sleet / rain and dirt in Chicago

1 - apply rain x ceramic spray
2 - let it dry over 30 mins, do not wipe it off
2.5 - spray another coat and wait 30 gently wipe it off
3 - apply WD-40 Specialist Silicone Lubricant , yes it maters that it's specifically this one.
4 - I actually disagree and specifically NOT use wax or polish, when I do that it beads up into more water droplets. What i mentioned in 1-3 above is going to allow it to run off.

I was planning on building something like that. I just wish they put the camera under the overhang for the rear license plate to prevent this. ??
