In coming rant....

As you can see from the screen shots below, my car for whatever reason, wants to condition the cabin at MIDNIGHT! Never mind the Detroit time zone, that is just another wonderful added bug for this software. Even if it was actually using Detroit time, it would not be conditioning now as my time is 07:50 PST.

Just for giggles I actually went out to my car to see if it was actually conditioning or if the software was just reporting incorrectly like it does typically. Nope, sure enough, its out there making all its racket and the cabin is pumping in cold AC.

I'm getting so incredibly annoyed with this car's software. Its at the point now that I don't even know what its actually doing half the time and you can't rely on FordPass to show correct data. I'm almost to the point where I'm not going to even bother plugging it in because I don't want it to go rogue and pull during $0.70 peak hours which is incredibly inconvenient. My only other option is to get a smart charger, at $600 bucks, all because Ford can't get their act together. It's no different than being being forced to buy a second fob because PAAK is jacked. Its absurd...

Why..... Am I missing something??

Odd indeed. I don’t use preconditioning nor FordPass for much of anything, including setting the charge schedule, I do the latter in the car. That just seemed more reliable to me than FP.

The oddest thing FordPass does to her us tell me my car will charge outside of scheduled times, then start charging right on schedule and finishing right on schedule.

All in all I think FP is an odd little creature.

I originally set all my schedule and departure times in the car as well. I had always read it seemed to work better that way.

And yes, I get the annoying “can’t charge” messages daily. I also get them daily in the car, every single time I turn it off at home. Does not matter if I have a 87% charge, it will still say it can’t get to 90% on the sync screen. Even on weekends when I have 14 hour charge window on L2, it will say it has to charge outside of the window…..

The charging experience is honestly the biggest thing that annoys me to no end. The rest of the issues I could deal with till they got patched. It feels like a after thought, when it should had been one of the first thing polished.

I like it when FordPass tells me that my charge did not start as scheduled… after it has reached its target charge level. That’s a fun one too. I basically ignore/turn off all notifications from FordPass. Then the car is just a car. And it’s a wonderful car when done that way.

I connected my FordPass account to the Shortcuts app on my iPhone, then created a shortcut to remote start at specific times only if my phone is connected to my home wifi or work wifi. I got tired of my car turning on when I didn't want it to... ie in the airport parking lot, wrong time zone, etc. Also, my car wouldn't precondition if it's plugged in for some reason.

That is not a bad idea, I might give that a try.

This is an example of the charging conflict errors. Recorded this after dropping my kid off at school this morning. Dunno why it thinks I’m going to lose percentage lol. This is one of the two errors I get every shut down. The other one is the pretty long error message.

Random ideas that may or may not be helpful:

Is AM/PM set correctly in the car? Try changing it to 24 hour time. Toggle automatic time zone update on and off.

Are charging locations turned on? Does it actually say "At Home" on the screen when you're at home?

Try setting the charge window so it doesn't cross midnight. Like 1 AM to 7 AM. Set a second window 9 PM to 11 PM (adjust for your demand times).

Set the charge settings and departure times in the car rather than the app.

If all else fails, disconnect the 12V battery for 15 minutes to reset everything. Personally I'd be bringing it into the dealer for manual software updates.

Thanks for the ideas.

So far its just been a one off deal. I have gotten notifications in the past but always just assumed it was FordPass being Fordpass, now I'm not too sure... There's been maybe 5 times where I've gotten notified at odd times about conditioning.

The night it conditioned at 12am it still conditioned at 07:20 like it was supposed too. Hopefully it was not running for 7hrs lol I did check the app around 12:15am and it just showed "charging" so I'm assuming it stopped the conditioning.

All settings were set originally inside the car as I had read doing it in the app could be buggy. I went about a month or two on L1 charging where I did not use any departure times so I had time to pickup some tips from the forums :)

I've been tempted to do the 12v trick, it just seems like such a pain in the butt to do.. I've had other random oddities come up with the car in the 3 months I've owned it. I really just need to take it to the dealer but hesitant to do so. I'm EXTRODNARLY OCD with my interior and paint, if they scratched/scuffed/dirtied the car I'd end up going ballistic. Also my PAAK works 98% of the time, and I don't want that to change. A car should come back from service at least in the same condition it went in. Not to mention I could not go days without a car as I have to take kids to school. So ya, it needs to go in.
