The what?
Yeah, people joke, but it's so sad when someone says "I've owned this $60,000 vehicle for 2 years and I never knew I had ____". If say 1 out of 100 people said "wow, I should open the PDF manual", think of all the brain cells that would be energized by that...

You're correct although I remember spending a bit more than that. I've owned this $80K vehicle for almost two years and never once read it. Probably because I got you guys! This place is way better than thumbing through a boring pdf.

It’s a federal requirement that all EVs have some type of green ready light
I believe you, but I can't find a reference for that. I looked at 49 CFR Part 571 Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and couldn't find it, though I certainly could have missed it in all that text. Do you know where it is? (I'm a CFR junkie, a hangover from my prior life at work).

With FORScan, that can be changed to one of the following:

"Go Speed Racer, Go"
"Go Granny Go"
"Proceed"
"Engage"

or, my favorite,

"Why the hell aren't you moving yet?"
I’ll take “Giddy-Up”!

Can someone please tell us what this always on stupid ready light is for?

Ford spent many years carefully crafting this indicator for the sole purpose of annoying you ?

It's a visual indication that the car is on, since there's no engine noise. It may be a requirement for EVs. Our Volt and Hybrid Sienna both have it.
Ford Cmax had it as well and yes, how you knew it was ready to drive

Maverick, Wrangler 4xe, BMW X5 added to this list. The consistency around wording and coloring makes me think it’s a requirement.

The LEAF has a car icon with arrows going out from the front and rear.

I agree that any requirement for a READY light is very well hidden, if such a requirement exists at all.

Certainly Tesla has no READY light. Mind you, there is no need to do anything to "Start" the vehicle, so a READY light would be a waste of space. In a Tesla, the car starts waking up when you open the door, and it is ready to go by the time you are in the seat. You press the Brake pedal, select Drive or Reverse, then drive away
