This thread caught my attention as here in the Catskills of NYS we do have to remember to wipe off the rear camera before driving off. Keeping cars clean in general is a challenge and I take every opportunity to hand wash the car when temperatures get above freezing. So far this year that has happened only twice! Our previous car, a 2015 VW Golf Sportwagen TDI, had a good solution. The camera is protected by the rear VW emblem. When you put it in reverse , the emblem pivots up about 30 degrees to expose the camera. A bit of a delay between selection of reverse and seeing the image on the dash screen but that probably had more to do with the ancient electronics on that car. Hard to retrofit anything like that on our Mach E but hopefully someone from Ford is thinking about improving this on future models.

Free idea to our sponsors who make products: rear washer pony. I’d take a new pony badge if it squirts water on the backup camera.
Plus point if it squirts from the nether region... 🤣

I am surprised I have not seen anyone mention using Rain X, it works great lasts the entire winter. used it on my explorer's back up camera when the sprayer stopped working. Also on my front camera. Worked great in Western WA weather for 8 years with a quick application each year. Before on my BMW I used a potato, works for 3-4 months usually enough for winter. Cut it, and clean the lens, then use the potato on the camera lens. good for winter.

Rain X doesn't help with snow and salt. I make a habit of wiping it off before moving the car.

I was also going to question the effectiveness of Rain X To keep the lens clean. I’m going with the low tech approach - keep a roll of paper towels and a small bottle of windex in the rear cargo area. That also comes in handy to pre -clean the rear window so the wipers aren’t loaded up with grit.

An easy solution would be to mount a giant fan on a trailer that would blow the stream of water around the hump in the tailgate. I think I'm going to put that on KickStarter.

I agree with you and have cancelled my kickstarter pledge. Thanks everyone for asking the right questions. Now if only Ford monitors this and does something about future designs for camera placement and housing so this issue can be prevented…
I actually pledged on this Kickstarter, as well. I'll keep mine and report back on the results when I receive it. If my experience with prior Kickstarters and inevitable production delays is any indication, that should be sometime in 2034.

That's a different story. OP mentioned they were in the area region as me stating rain/mud. Which is what I had issues with till I tried rain x and/or potato starch.

Your mileage is different as you are having issues with snow. OP didn't ask about snow.

someone on facebook? or reddit just t tapped the rear sprayer and drilled a nozzle beside the camera. my only mild concern would be sealing water getting in from the drill location but looked pretty flush.
