What I would do is tee off the rear window washer line, and somehow add nozzle in the rear gate. Then it would work like the front camera washer and wash the rear camera whenever you wash the rear window.

The back of the Mach-E does get extremely nasty, so I would have preferred they included a rear camera washer instead of a front one.
There is a front camera washer, on which model?

I understand that the front camera washer was eliminated starting with the 2023 model year. It was activated when the windshield washer was activated. Unfortunately this feature on my ‘21 First Edition stopped working some time ago. The kick-to-open rear hatch still works though, and that was another feature in earlier MME models that was also eliminated.

However I realized while looking at the rear of my car that the license plate is quite inset compared to the location of the camera. So the nozzle would need to protrude quite far (I measured about 4.5") to clear the rear curve of the tailgate. That seems like it could be an issue. I just asked abut that and we'll see what he says...
I was going to point that out, too. How can you get from the license plate-mounted squirter up to the camera lens? The liftgate is in the way. While I think this is a great idea, it obviously isn't going to be a 'one-size-fits-all' kind of gadget.

"... instead of a front one (camera washer)..." Does your car have a front camera washer? I don't think my 2023 does. Is this another thing that Ford cost reduced?
It was decontented in late MY22, as I recall.

I’ve copied your photo over to the kickstarter Q&A to see if they can respond. They have a Google doc on their kickstarter page indicating that it does fit the Mach-e however, although your photo makes my wonder how.

Just want to provide the responses to my additional questions to Mike Klein of Lens Lizard:

Q: I note mention in your FAQs that some "vehicles have recessed plates or body lips – those use the same optional standoff adapters.” How deep are the adapters? A straight line from the rear camera to the top of the license plate intersects a ~4.5” horizontal line (i.e., the Lens Lizard nozzle would need to be about 4.5” away from the top of the license plate in order to just barely clear the body lip).

A: We're developing multiple adaptors for different depths. You're 100% right, it'll stick out quite a bit depeding on the model. Most of them are on pickups so you just lose some of your step. On hatchbacks it's a little worse. Still worth the convenience though!

Q: How secure is the nozzle and its adjustment. I can easily imagine the nozzle getting knocked out of alignment (or worse, off entirely) by car wash brushes.

A: The nozzle is super firm but also easy to adjust if it goes out of alignment. My touchless car washes have been fine but the brush ones might move it around. You'll just have to aim it once again.

The net is that sadly, based on the above answers, I do not intend to order one. The license plate sticking several inches out from the back of the car is wildly unappealing to me, as is the likelihood that the nozzle would need to be repointed every time the car went through a car wash (or got bumped since it would stick out so far). I think the concept is brilliant, but I don't think it will be suitable for the Mach E...

I agree with you and have cancelled my kickstarter pledge. Thanks everyone for asking the right questions. Now if only Ford monitors this and does something about future designs for camera placement and housing so this issue can be prevented…

Considering that Ford decontented the front camera washer three years ago, it seems highly unlikely they'll be adding a rear one. But we can hope?
