Hello mach e owners. I own a very early model 21 AWD Extended Range. Starting last week the buttons on the rear liftgate stopped closing the rear liftgate. I can hear 3 dings but the door never moves. I have tried the remote, both rear liftgate buttons, and the infotainment button but none will close the rear liftgate. All will open it but none will close. I have also tried turning off auto liftgate and turning it back on, resetting sync, but nothing has worked. Where I live the Ford dealer is HORRIBLE, and I mean HORRIBLE. Before I schedule a service appointment and give up my car for a week (yes they take a week no matter what they do for some reason) I am hoping someone in the community has some troubleshooting methods I can try. And yes I have looked through the forum and saw some other similar issues that all needed a module replaced. If it gets to that anyone have a round price I could expect?

Thanks in advance!!

Not sure this can help you but from the repair manual, this is what is required for the liftgate to close. There is also a power liftgate initialization but that would have to be done by the dealer or someone with FDRS.

The post above got me thinking. I at one point double tapped the exterior rear button when trying to put my lift gate down. After this the issues started (now thinking back about it). So I went outside, pushed the exterior rear liftgate button to open the door, once opened pushed it once, heard the dings and nothing happened. I then tapped the exterior button (now above my head) twice quickly, heard the beeps again and the door closed. I then opened and closed it with all the buttons, infotainment, interior/exterior liftgate, and remote and they all worked. Strangely though I cannot replicate the issue by tapping the button again but I have a high confidence that is what caused it.

either way its working now and I am going to credit markboris because their solution is what triggered the thought process that got it working again. Cheers.

Edit: It could also be a complete coincidence that it started working at that time, I don't really know.

Check your fuses, I think it's fuse #12. The power liftgate shares a fuse with the OTA modem, so if you're also not getting connectivity then that's the issue.
