Hi Everyone.

Sorry if this has been discussed. I've had my 21' Mach E Select AWD for a few months now. A neighbor told me that my reverse lights don't come on when I'm backing out of my driveway. Is there a way to turn them on?

Reverse is bottom middle / was your neighbor not able to see the lower part of your car?
You were in reverse and not just rolling out correct?

I was definitely reversing out. Not rolling out. Maybe he didn't see it. Is it possible that I had mine turned off, or there is no option for that?

You cannot turn them off.

Back up to garage door at night and you will see them. Or, just put it in reverse at night.

I think it’s because its location is not familiar. It threw me off at first too. Enjoy your car, pass your new knowledge on to your neighbor. ?
@Polar, ❤ your car’s color with the stripes.?

It happened to me too a while ago. When I was reversing during the night time a guy from another car behind came and told me that my reverse light is not working. I guess because of the position in which it is located sometimes not easy to see unless you are familiar with it. I read somewhere that it was located to give enough downward lighting for the reverse camera. But I feel it is a safety aspect as a normal pedestrian or someone behind you unable to see the light means you have to be extra careful while reversing the Mach E. It would be good if Ford could do something about it. Maybe any of the Tail light/Signal Light turns white on the reverse with a software upgrade could eliminate this issue. Not sure how practical it is. An opinion from everyone may reach Ford and may do something about it. Thanks.

I have a ‘23 MME and somebody stopped me today saying my backup lights weren’t on. Had my wife stand behind the car and they’re on (confirmed thanks to this thread). I hate that it beeps whenever I back up but I’m glad it does since people clearly are not recognizing the backup lights

Yeah, I don’t really like the positioning of the reverse light, but it it what it is. ?‍♂?

Honestly, the location of the reverse light is one of my least favorite design elements on the car. I've had a couple folks mention to me they have not seen it on and multiple forum posts before yours with similar stories. That tells me the light is just not visible enough in its current location. Hopefully Ford rethinks it's placement in the next design revision.

On two other cars, a BMW and another Ford, I had the OEM rear fog lights as well. Up on the usual upper corner locations, the rear fog light (a very bright, narrowly focused red light that points straight back to alert the car behind you to your presence in very low visibility conditions like dense fog, a blinding downpour or a snowstorm) worked well for all three such conditions.

On the Mach E, unfortunately, in a snowstorm the red low-slung rear fog light which (when present) is in the center of the reverse light, gets immediately coated with clinging snow, making it useless for one of the three very-low-visibility conditions. Ditto for the reverse light function.

Guess how I know (not thanks to an accident, but to a snowstorm or two).

So I agree... the current Mustang reverse / rear fog light design is a nice styling touch and simultaneously a sub-optimal placement of a safety-related light.

I hate the location / visibility of the reverse lights. I've had people nonchalantly stroll (and in one case run) dangerously close behind me as I'm in reverse, seemingly oblivious to the fact that I'm in reverse and about to hit the throttle to back up.
