Rear Wheel speed sensor

I’m looking for some other opinions on this issue. The other day while commuting home the car sent every signal out to me. Sent me into limp mode and couldn’t go faster than 35mph. What’s strange is that I didn’t even have to use the accelerator, the car just stayed at 35mph, with extremely slow acceleration. I’ll attach all the faults it sent me.

Fast forward to today. I took it to the dealer and they’re saying it a bad right wheel sensor. I’m just confused on how that can trigger sending out all those codes? High voltage battery warning, stop stop safety now, no one pedal assist, etc… They seem to think this will solve the issue. I’m just Not convinced. Thoughts?

How old is your Mach E? How many miles?

Also, there's not enough information here to second guess your dealer at this point. Sounds like replacing the sensor is the first step, and then they'll see if the other codes clear and don't come back.

I agree, just my history with them has shown that I am a guinea pig most of the time for them. My car is a 2021, with 63,000 miles on it. It’s a job one car.

If you discovered the issue on *Tuesday*, and your dealer has already diagnosed and started repairs by *Thursday*, you have a responsive dealer.
Some people report a few weeks to get an appointment at their dealership.

63k miles and it seems totally possible that sensor has worn out. The other cascade of error codes could just be a freak out based on not having wheel data anymore.

What does the wheel sensor do?
The wheel sensors are one of the main components of the ABS module. They are needed for the anti-lock braking system and some sub-systems of the ABS module such as Auto Hold, Traction Control, etc.

Each wheel speed sensor is connected directly to the ABS module by 2 circuits. One circuit provides voltage for sensor operation and the other circuit provides sensor input to the ABS module.

The ABS module continuously monitors and compares the rotational speed of the drive wheels in relation to the non-driven wheels. When the drive wheels begin to spin faster than the non-driven wheels, the ABS module modulates brake pressure to the appropriate brake calipers by opening and closing the appropriate solenoid valves inside the EBB unit while the hydraulic pump motor is activated. At the same time, the ABS module calculates how much engine torque reduction is required to eliminate the wheel slip and sends this torque reduction message to the PCM.

As a driver, you can turn off this sub system of the ABS module known as traction control however if the ABS module detects issues with any speed sensor, brake hydraulic solenoid valves or if there are any DTC's present in the ABS module, it will disable traction control and the drivers ability to control it.

Many systems receive information from different sensors.
My F150 was displaying many different error messages. Parking brake errors. Hill assist error. Traction control errors.
Did a Forscan check and it said I had an open or shorted right rear wheel sensor.
Easily replaced the sensor and all the error messages went away.

I see why now I received all the warning lights, but I am still confused on why I would get “stop safety now” and high voltage battery warning?
