So, having finally received my recall notice for the panoramic roof three weeks ago, my Mach-E went in on Monday and I am due to get it back tomorrow. Today, in the post, I got the recall notice for the windscreen! All the emails advising that the recalls would be happening have mentioned both the roof and the screen and yet they separate the letters by weeks and now we have to book the car in for a second time.
Come on Ford, surely you should do better than that?

Just because you received the notice in the mail, doesn’t mean it wasn’t in Ford’s system for your car already. Your dealer would presumably know that all cars getting the pano recall need the windshield too. I’d call them and check, they hopefully are doing both. It’s supposed to only take 2 days to do both, if they’re just doing the pano, it could be done in a day.

OK, so, Neal4Real, you were absolutely correct which begs the question, why did the chap not mention today that they had done both? He simply said that the pano had been completed.
Still, rant notneeded after all - I apologise to anyone who looked.

Well, the saga continues. Despite them telling me on the phone that the windscreen had 'been sorted' while they had my car, when I picked it up, I was told that the windscreen was on order and would arrive in 2 weeks so, dspite their original assurances, I now have to take it back in a couple of weeks. Can't say I am happy

In the US at least, the recall for the windshield does not involve replacing the windshield. The windshield is removed, mounting surfaces prepped, and recounted.

According to the garage, they tested it and it passed but, when they sent the numbers to Ford, they were told that they had to replace it. Not sure why - perhaps there were a specific list of part numbers that had to be replaced. Whatever the reason, it's a pain to have to take it in again.

There are certain batch numbers that need replacing due to an electrical element issue. ALL cars with a pano roof should get their screens replaced regardless (according to communication to dealers from Ford). Dealers need to order new screen for those that are to be replaced but can only do this when Ford say that your VIN is at the top of the list.
My screen is in the batch with a dodgy element and I have a pano roof. My dealer has a replacement on order for me and then will do all the recalls at once. Your dealer should have been aware of this as it has all been communicated to them from Ford.

If only!

Ref the windscreens.....the part number on the screen needs to be checked first.
Certain parts numbers will need screen replacing.
The others require a steam test first to check operation of heated screen. If it's ok, then screen just needs to be removed and refitted. If it fails steam test or breaks on removal, then a new screen has to be fitted.
Parts can NOT be ordered in advance.

Hi Graham,
I think my issue was more to do with the fact that I was given the impression that the screen recall had been dealt with when clearly it hadn't. My annoyance has since been compounded by the fact that my hardwired dashcam (which I pointed out when I dropped the car off) was refitted with double sided tape rather than an appropriate 3M style pad and has, in the last few days, fallen off so I now need to clean the area and the mount and get a new pad myself to refit it - surely fixing a dashcam to a screen shouldn't have been an issue?
