Hello all

Took Sparky in because of a series of warnings I had been receiving (Anti Lock Brake System detected a fault, Hill Start Assist failure, etc) and the dealer said they were able to complete the HVJB repair while I was there so they did that and tried to update all the software as I am way behind on OTA's. They had trouble with the 'programming' whatever that means and asked that I bring in my second key because they were doing a major reset. Then, the Ford engineers said they needed to replace my Instrument panel cluster. Unfortunately, 3 weeks in and this is still back ordered with no delivery date in sight. Been enjoying my purple Escape loaner but just not the same. Questions:

Has anyone had delays like this waiting for an IPC?
Do I have any case to make with Ford for additional compensation if this drags on any longer. I am supposed to get the $50 debit card for gas that goes with the HVJB recall but has anyone been able to get more from Ford when delays like this happen? I do have a free loaner so maybe I should be grateful?

Today is the 3 week mark for my service (recalls done waiting on parts for something else). The dealer has pretty much called me daily even if it is just to say "The car isn't ready yet".

My loaner is limited to 550 miles total--I was told that if I get close to that bring it in and they'll give me another. The Exploder is pretty peppy but its no Mach-E.

I drove my car in turtle mode for 3 weeks until the parts showed up. After that a few days in a ford escape while they installed it.

Hello all...

Questions:

Do I have any case to make with Ford for additional compensation if this drags on any longer. Yes, I have been waiting 10 weeks for a charging port to be replaced, no part available.

I assume your state lemon law is similar to mine, after 30 days in the shop you can make a lemon claim or coordinate a buyback with Ford.

Since you have a loaner, you can wait it out, or if you're sick of waiting, investigate your state lemon laws.

An MME in turtle mode is basically an Escape with cheaper gas and a better body
100%. It drove like a normal car. Made me appreciate it more after it was fixed.

Can you send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of the Ford dealer you are working with? I would like to see what I can do to assist with your repair concerns.

I've had the car too long and rove too many miles for Lemon Law relief.

so...... big red flag to me is the Dealer saying they could do a HVBJB recall 'while you were there'. The best they could have done was make sure you had the software 'early warning' update. The actual HVBJB recall is a hardware remove and replace recall.

worse, it sounds like the dealer didn't know what they were doing and failed to get 'all' updates installed correctly.

I'd say your best bet is to contact @Ford Motor Company with your VIN and dealership, and insist they transport your vehicle to a different dealership that knows what they are doing.

I didn't mean I would stick around and wait while they did the recall. Just that when I brought the car in for the other warnings, they said they would do the recall while they dealt with the other stuff.

It sounded to me like they were intending to do only the SOFTWARE 'recall', which is really not a fix at all, it just gives an 'early warning', and limits output while the Dealer can order parts and schedule the real hardware fix.

Sounds to me like your dealership failed to install any of the software updates correctly, and has your vehicle pretty messed up. Thus my suggestion that you try a more experiences dealership.... one that can clear the failed updates and get ALL modules in your vehicle up to some known version of software.

If you talk nice to the case manager, you might be able to get reimbursement for gas money. You need to submit all receipts. It will be helpful to let the case manager knows how many gas miles you drove. Ford seems to be reasonable about the situation.

It may not be your dealer at fault for having issues installing a new IPC. I tried to get my IPC replaced under the "omg too buzzy" TSB but they couldn't program two new IPC with current firmware.

They ended up putting back my factory-installed IPC so I could have my car back, and they'll try again later.

Edit: a month later and the new part came in. Installation took all day. No more buzz. Thanks, Towne Ford and FOMOCO!

Seems like the dealer is already taking care of you and being attentive to your service. I would push it. I would be grateful, and respectful for their efforts — even if there is something else you can get. Simply put, you aren’t being inconvenienced and this isn’t putting a damper on your daily life. Failures happen, that’s why you have a warranty, and the recall system exists. I consider this AAA+ service. Anything more would be penalizing Ford or the dealership for doing the right thing.
