Yes, but the Android Automotive OS is not coming to older models.

There is new hardware that will be in future vehicles that runs Android Automotive as the base OS, Ford will still put a Sync UI over that. This will not come to the older cars, but the UI will look similar.

2021-2023 are in the middle of a UI refresh right now. We got it partially in the last Sync update, and should get more of the redesign in future updates.

If you only knew how slow and poor the first sync 4a was...

The latest version is a godsend in comparison. In no way perfect, but a huge improvement. Like anything else in tech, it will only be supported for a short time and then forgotten so they can invest their technical resources into the new products that drive sales. It's the way it always goes.

Right now, I can see CarPlay getting a redesign next week. (Announcement only, release in the "Fall")

Otherwise the ford UI I think is what it will be with minor tweaks here and there. One of which I hope is the home and settings icons. They are terrible.
