Remote Climate Control in FordPass?

When you remote start your Mach-E, which option do you prefer?

Hey all, interested to get the group's opinions on climate control if it existed in FordPass... Add any additional context to your choice in the thread.

For everyone who wants to control it I hope you get your wish. My prediction if it comes to pass: countless threads regarding FordPass errors controlling remote climate.

Neither, I like the AUTO function that deliberately over heats or cools the cabin for a faster response time. Using last settings does not fully condition the cabin in only 15 minutes due to thermal lag. Nor do I want the extra step of having to adjust the settings each time for remote start vs. my normal settings. AUTO is one less thing to worry about.

Having remote adjustable HVAC like other brands would be nice in rare situations but I don’t think I’d use it often.

I was hoping Auto mode would perform better this winter after the OTA’s but I have found the fogging to be worse under 20F than last winter. Wish it was otherwise but just go manual and things clear up quickly.

I’m talking about the AUTO setting for remote start, which is different than the AUTO HVAC mode on the main screen. It’s under remote start settings.

Haven’t quite been under 20F yet, but the little bit of fogging I get in the 20’s goes away in a minute or two.

Thanks - I need to look at that!

Using the last settings wouldn't be very functional this time of year in the south when it can get down to the 40s in the early morning but hit the 80s in the late afternoon.

Thankfully the auto setting mentioned above works pretty well.

What bugs me the most is the fact that it turns on the heated seats and steering warmer for no rhythm or reason.
And doesn’t turn them off after I start the car (when I have remote started the car)

I would love this feature. One of the things I like about the wifes MY. The ability to set the temp, to get a notification that the temp has been reached, and even choose which seats to heat is nice.

With that said the Mach-E does a great job warming the cabin when it cold out and cooling it when its hot out. It heats my (drivers) seat perfectly in the winter but my passenger quickly goes for the butt heater. Its simple and it works but more would be nice.

This answer. I want an excellent, built-in, set-and-forget AUTO cabin comfort system. I DON'T want to have to constantly play with it and I certainly don't want to have to manage TWO control inputs; one in the car (where controls belong) and one on the phone (where only must-be-remote controls belong).

Frankly, the idea of remotely controlling more car features through phone apps and Internet is stupid. It just adds more complication, more potential points of failure, and more potential security holes. Car controls belong in the car!

What the Mach E really needs is the ability to remember different cabin comfort settings across driver profiles. Why it can adjust the seat position and mirrors but not cabin temperature is lost on me.

Allow me to control it remotely.

I never use AUTO for climate control. My garage is very warm, and so air conditioning is immediately blasted through with Auto when I start the car - even though I might have just come from chilly air conditioning and prefer to warm up a bit. Then when I'm driving the air is usually cool enough that a standard vent airflow is perfectly fine. I get tired of constantly turning the air conditioning off, so I just don't use auto.

As for the utility of controlling it remotely, one time I was picking up food for a party in my Nissan Leaf. Due to the timing, cake was picked up before hot food. I didn't want the icing to melt, so I activated the climate control to try and keep the car cool. I'm pretty sure the Leaf app allowed me to set the temperature as well... but even if not, I don't want to have to run back out to my car to turn on the air conditioning if I wasn't driving with it on to begin with.
