Removing a Thinkware U1000 4K front+rear dashcam from MME

In spring 2022, I had a Thinkware U1000 front and rear dash cam installed by my local dealer into my MY21 Mach-E. I was blessed to be able to get a MY22 Mach-E and would like to remove the camera so I can install it into the my new Mach-E.

Ideally, I’d like to DIY so I won’t have to pay a few hundred dollars in labor. Has anyone remove their Thinkware U1000? How hard is this to do by myself? I am handy but have not worked on car electronics in a while. The last Dashcam I installed was a Garmin Mini which sticks on the windshield, a uses a simple USB cable threaded under the headliner.

I am not familiar with the ThinkWare unit, but I am sure that it isn’t more complicated than my FitcamX. That’s a simple set of wires from the front cam to the fuse box, and a signal cable to the liftgate. 3 or so hours to do the install, so probably a little less to remove. ?‍?

Very easy. Take your time. The only potential trim problem piece is the A Pillar.

Thank you! I just got approved for a buyback of my 2021 Select from Ford so this is perfect timing! Now I can do the removal myself and move the camera system over to my 2022 California Route 1!
