I was getting an error message on the dash saying "Rear Belt Monitor fault - Service Required" that would come up regularly, along with the orange airbag looking light. At the exact same same time every time, the FordPass app notification said "The restraints control module has detected a fault with the driver buckle sensor circuit". So one is saying rear, and the other is saying driver. Anyone have something like that where they've been able to figure out the problem? The car has been at the dealer for 7 weeks now. They started by replacing the steering column, but that wouldn't program right. I think they ended up putting the original one back in and resetting everything and the codes went away. They gave me the car back and the next day the error came back and it went back to the dealer. They were working with Ford engineers, but still haven't been able to figure anything out.

Interestingly enough, my wife had this same issue on 10/22 and then again this morning. The first time the error cleared itself on her drive home, waiting to see what this newer one will do. The Ford dealer indicated that it with the error active, the airbags are compromised - it would appear seat belt tensioners are also impacted. Unfortunately, the dealer doesn't have any appts until 11/26. Going to see if the other local dealer has something sooner just to get it checked.

If someone could harvest the actual code(s), I'm curious exactly what the pinpoint tests are in the service manual.
Afterall, there's a finite number of components in the system.

So yet again the fault cleared when she came home this evening. Going to send my obd scanner with her and see if she can get the code when it's illuminated, if it happens again.

Well, they told me today that it's fixed, so I should be picking it up tomorrow. I'll see if I can find out what the codes were

Code seems like it was B0500? When I search for that I get something totally different, so I'm not sure. They replaced the driver seat belt buckle.

Not sure if attached is of interest. It’s a generic Ford code description by maybe right.

The drivers seat buckle & pretensioner wiring & connections are susceptible because of higher usage and greater number of seat movements than other seats (usually).

The DTC should not just be present only when the symptoms of the fault exist, should really remain after initially set by a fault until either a pre-determined number of fault free ignition cycles or is cleared by diagnostic scanner or computer.

Interesting. B0050:11 showed up in this TSB for a PI Taurus, Driver side buckle.

I think next time her car throws a code, I'll have her unbuckle/rebuckle her seatbelt and see if that works.

Thanks for the follow-up!
She stopped on her way home Friday night. Car threw a code again. Went to another stop 30 seconds away, turned car off, unbuckled, re-buckled, started car and code was gone. Must be the seatbelt buckle. Going to have her try some other options, like resetting the buckle if it goes off while driving. This is truly the definition of the word intermittent.

@Ccarbs have you had any other reoccurrences since they replaced the seatbelt buckle?

I do think I'm going to get a scanner to be able to check the codes on my own
