My father in law has a Honda Ridgeline.

I never thought it needed over 700 hp.

OK the front looks like something from the Jetsons. The wheels are even uglier than what Ford offers us for the MME’s

Can it tow anything?

I am actually placing an order for a Cadillac Lyriq with my brother-in-law the dealer in the next few days once it’s possible. He thinks tomorrow. You can put the fanciest one together for only a little more than a MMEGT. And it has massaging seats. Lol. 38 inch LCD it must cost five grand to replace at least

I expect delivery sometime Before the next presidential election

It looks exactly like a ridge line with a messed up front end. Not an actual truck. Fugly

I don't want or need that high HP. My Tacoma has about 250-280 HP and it tows what I need to tow just fine.

The problem is that seems to be all manufacturers think people with the money to buy an EV want: lots of HP and lots of torque. Neither of which are as necessary for towing realistic loads as truck manufacturers would have us believe.

That's what the Mustang snobs said about the MME.

I couldn't care less about the looks. I need a pickup truck and would like an EV. If the Rivian were going to be available, I'd buy one. Given the progress of the F-150 Lightning, it looks like I'll probably end up with a Tacoma EV.

Get a Maverick hybrid. Maybe next year. By the way in addition to being ugly it’s Not only unproven as a model it’s unproven as a virgin company. That just jacked up the price on everybody

Caveat Emptor

I would love a Maverick, but it doesn't have the towing capacity. I need between 6000 and 8500 lbs, but can make it work with the Tacoma.

Did you read my posts in this thread? I know what's going on with the Rivian.

Sorry if I was impolite. Hanging out watching the game drinking and unfortunately posting. Didn’t read most of your stuff. Truly think that Rivian looks heinous. I hope you find what you need it’s crazy out there right now I’m looking at a Cadillac lyric as well I have a pseudo order in with a family member dealer friend.
All good electrical adapter.
I don’t have a warm feeling about the electric F150 coming out quick. My dealer just shakes his head when I ask…

No worries.

I put in a reservation on the F-150 Lightning but will not be invited to order until the 2023 model is available, at the earliest.

I'll be watching for the Tacoma (or whatever they decide to call it) announcement and will put in an order/reservation for that. By then I hope that we'll have figured out some of the issues with long trips in EVs.

We would rather have the mid-sized pickup.

Thanks for the info. I guess it means the guy at my dealer knew he would not be around in 2023. It’s a sh$t show at dealers now. No inventory all sales are pre-orders. They are acting like jackals.

There may be special access to some dealers, but I kind of doubt it.
I'm hoping that Ford (and others) lobby to fix the dealer monopolies that are causing so many issues for end-consumers. Someday, maybe...

We're on a short weekend jaunt and came across a Rivian charging. I parked my Tacoma next to it to get an idea of its size, etc. The R1T's length is about 8 inches less than the Tacoma (sure, you can read the specs, but it's nice to see it in reality). The height is only a bit taller, and it's a bit wider. Nice looking truck that R1T, IMO. My Taco was fairly dirty from some recent adventures, so please look past that.

I now have an order in for the R1T. Maybe I'll be able to buy one sometime in the next five years...

I saw my first Rivian in the wild this week, passing me in the fast lane! It looked great from behind. ?

I don't understand the dislike of the way the front looks.

I don't care about how a vehicle looks all that much personally, so I don't understand when people really like the looks either.

Mostly I don't like things that look the same as everything else, so I guess that's why I'm not bothered by the Rivian R1T?

Simple: It doesn't look like any other pickup truck on the market today....

Initially I was a bit putoff about it but I'm close to their HQ so I've seen quite a few driving around the past few months. Its a bit odd driving at night when one is coming at you from the opposite direction ;)

(What is cool is that you can put the % charged across the front--and rear. Drove past the HQ at night with about a dozen of them charging all with their % indicators showing LOL.)
