I am seriously thinking of bailing on my order and this is starting to become a painful decision as I am so far down the road and I really NEED a vehicle and I have invested so much time and energy in the MME. I am 9 months waiting on the car; it is now 60 miles from the dealership where it will then go to recall-jail until honestly,.... who really knows when? I have owned close to 40 cars in 40+ years I never owned a Ford and I went all in believing in the Mach-e, that Ford was becoming the car company of the future (the reviews and press were just so stellar and I got sucked in deep). In October 2021, I ordered the MME and passed on the Model Y. I knew the risks of eary ownership but hoped by year two that the major issues would be mostly ironed out. After this recall, I recently put in an order for a Model Y Performance (right before Tesla's price increase) as a backup and I am now starting to seriously weigh waiting yet another few months and just going with the Tesla. Ford's atrocious process and communications, dealer antics, and now brick anxiety has sucked every ounce of enthusiasm out of this massive MME high that I was riding. I much prefer the styling of the MME over the Tesla but Tesla has a lot going for it now that I am thinking of switching. I don't buy into members' views that we have to just accept a boatload of early adopter risk of the MME and that this is what we are signing up for. Tesla has ironed a lot of the early adopter stuff out. I may just have to give up the MME good looks for the reliability and awesome supercharger network of the Tesla. Sure, I will have some build quality issues with paint and gaps but I'm much less likely to get bricked or have extended service delays. I am now paying for some Uber's and rental cars so I do need a car, this waiting BS with Ford has gone on way too long. I'm going to see how the early days of the recall pan out in July and make my decision then. I would go with the I-5 and perhaps the ID4 but I can't get into the dealer purchase and ADM crap. I ordered the Tesla in the time it takes to order uber eats; its just too easy and I'm getting too old for the dealer game.

What a wasted year and I really do want the MME to work out.

I really don't think any Tesla is more reliable than a first year MME, and certainly not a 2nd year MME. But don't get the MME if you feel it is a mistake. Don't let those of us who love our cars talk you into it. Seriously, it has to be the right decision for you and you alone.

Good luck regardless of what you decide to do.

I’m in the same boat (and build week)! I’m going on nearly 50 weeks since my initial deposit with no end in sight. My car was supposed to be detonated to the dealership this week and still radio silence. I made a model 3 order last week and already have a delivery estimate for September.

At this point, I’ve essentially decided that I’m done. I’ve been very patient with Ford, the poor communication, the lack of updates but this has been such a disappointing experience.

I too reserved the first night, a GTPE, but I cancelled before converting to order.

I still visit this forum occasionally to see how things are going, but I consider myself lucky, and prescient in getting out when I did.

Currently have a deposit on a Corolla GR track edition.

Update 6/22/22

Finally, some good news: they fixed my car, all features back to working, all updates successfully installed. A Ford engineer from HQ figured out what was wrong and got it fixed.

As I stated at the beginning, my wife and I have loved the car when it was working, and only became frustrated when it stranded us and with how long it took to fix. I am looking forward to getting it back and having more opportunities to drive it. I’m hopeful that this definitively puts this difficult stretch for me with this car squarely in the rear view mirror.

Thanks for letting us know. What did they do to fix it?

So far, just a broad-strokes explanation that the Ford HQ engineer was looking at data following the most recent attempt to re-install required updates and recognized a glitch or error that he was able to solve for. Strictly software. I’ll ask for more detail.

Its not unique to Ford right now though. I had a VW ICE. Issues- Decent buying experience, poor service under warranty, poor to non existent customer support and as a result did not even think about VW ID.4 and I was a VW enthusiast.

In buying my MME I went through 2 dealers and at least 6 or 7 salesman. In trying to discuss service options at Ford I have yet to have a feeling that the certified EV tech is actually the one doing work on my car. They have one, so they can be called an EV dealership, but the dealer doesn't want to spend the money training its people. Until we have knowledgeable mechanics on the outside of the dealer network we are not going to see an improvement.

You’re going to get some blowback from enthusiast and those that want to stand for the vehicle. I’ve experienced almost everything you say and it’s all true. A $60,000 car should never strand you and no repairs should take more than a week. I have two more on order but I am planning on canceling one and getting a hybrid maverick pick up on order in August when those books open and waiting for my next EV a little longer. I know I can sell the MachE so I’m going to take delivery if they could build it and give it a couple months if it gives me any grief ….it’s sold

Jes sayin. Anyone check out that the VinFast Vietnamese EV’s. I dropped a deposit down for one of those to check it out as well all refundable

Here’s the link

And what makes you think VinFast is going to be any more reliable?

Life's too short to be beaten down by a misbehaving car, especially in this insane market. Anyone driving an EV right now is sitting in the catbird seat in regards to being to sell it quickly.

I answered Another poster who apparently hasn’t had 2 MachE brick on him like I did

Still a fan but it’s a troubled build.

I can afford to take a shot on that Vietnamese car and probably sell it a month later for more than I bought it for so I’m gonna give it a try I’ve been swapping dealing cars for the last 50 years. They’re setting up showrooms in Los Angeles and they’ll sell like crazy in the Korean market there even if I hate it. And I bet you Vietnamese will buy them too….This is a unique market for sellers who have excellent credit who can string five car loans along pay them off and sell a car for more to make some money I made about 40 grand in the last four months doing that. It’s a fun hobby. And I charge less than creepy dealers No tax here on personal resales with active regs

Jes sayin. I have no idea if the car is any good but if I do buy it I know I make money on it

That’s true…when it’s running and not in the shop.

I had to google “Corolla track edition,” fully expecting to LOL…….. but that actually looks like it’ll be a hot little ride.

I feel it came out a decade too late, but still should be a fun car.
