I love Bluecruise.

I was not aware that Tesla's FSD is still hands on. I know at one point it was a $15k option.

The linked article is a quick catalog of hands free driving options from different manufacturers, which is very different than your post title, "Self Driving Options Are Here."

I just read through it... The author does a good job of explaining that hands free driving is a type of driver automation/assistance that requires a fully attentive driver at all times.

I hope that BlueCruise 1.6 adds more supported highways across North America to compete with SuperCruise.
Blue Cruise 1.6? Does anyone have 1.5?

Ford needs to be closer the GM's Supercruise, adding several thousand miles of handsfree a year, including major two-lane roads. And price wise.

A few thoughts on this...

Tesla FSD is hands on... but possibly not what you think. The camera in the car determines if you are touching the wheel, but you don't need to give it torque input any more. Just resting your hand on the bottom of the wheel is enough. I find that a good compromise, but not as good as Fords hands free.

In my experience, any system that requires periodic torque input is not worth having. It's a net negative vs just driving for me.

FSD is still stupid expensive, but the $99/mo option for a road trip is something I'd do. At the minute, they have a free trial turned back on.

Lastly, I find letting the car drive me through town to work surprisingly well but... it's stressful. Remember, any accident is the drivers responsibility. On the interstate however, these systems all shine.

Tesla new 12.5.4.1 allows hands free and uses the nanny camera. Not sure how much hands free it is vs blue cruise. But my bosses drove us to lunch the other day hands free in city streets so /shrug.

100% agree, expand, compete, include double divide highways too so that all of canadian highways can be hands-free

hands-on bluecruise without mapping works so well that I can't see why it should be such an issue to map double divides for hands-free....I know there's more variables than on traditional freeways....but nothing that can't be overcome. GM did it.
