Sensor Alignment Fee

I have some damage to the lower portion of the front bumper. The dealer quoted a figure for removing the piece, fixing or replacing it. No sensors were damaged, but besides the repair, they report needing to align the three sensors at $200-$250 each. Is that reasonable?

It’s fairly standard to have ADAS systems calibrated if areas around sensors & components are affected by collision damage or repairs, whether it’s a reasonable cost is a matter for if it really is necessary. The repairer will always argue it is and maybe correct but you won’t know unless they do it and if they don’t do it and it is required safety systems may not work properly or at all and you won’t necessarily know this until it’s too late.

Am afraid it may be a matter of paying up and looking happy?

No, that is not reasonable. One fee for all realignment. Those numbers are excessive. That is all covered by insurance.

Typical ADAS calibrations run anywhere from $150 - $750 per sensor/camera. Dynamic calibrations are cheaper then Static. $750.00 for example is doing a 360 Camera. These are the retail prices and most companies will give an individual a discount.
