Should Ford have a referral program like Tesla?

Should Ford have a referral program that offers charging credits for Electrify America?

Ford currently has multiple buyers for every EV they can make today. Enticing more buyers has no benefit.
The idea is for a future, more long term plan. The current shortages won't last forever once production ramps up.

I can’t see supply/demand parity before MY 2024. Referrals before then will only frustrate potential customers.

Seems they could evaluate that in the future then, but a big thing with Tesla was a lot of people in the last decade were simply unfamiliar with the brand and with electric vehicles in general, so word of mouth advocacy from real owners was particularly important.

But Ford is a well-known brand and electrics are pretty much in the public eye at this point (thanks largely to Tesla), so a referral program would be of limited help I would think.

Think of pick-up trucks prepandemic, would a referral program have done much for vehicles like the F150, Ram, and Silverado? We are approaching something similar to that with BEVs.
