The day after we picked up the car my wife wanted to shop at an artist enclave collection of shops. As we pull up, I realize that we stumbled on a Mustang car show. Almost every variety and age of pony car.
I sheepishly parked across from the display cars. A circle of owners were in front of the door and I smiled as I walked up. One of them kiddingly asked if I wanted a membership application. I told him I didn’t consider it as actual Mustang but it sure is a blast to drive. All their heads shook up and down. It seems they had all test driven them at some Ford sponsored event. Felt no bad vibes.

I'd call it the Ford Morgan.

A Morgan is a horse breed, one of the first to be created in the USA. Mostly a workhorse, but fast enough to run races.

The Mach-E doesn't really drive like a Mustang, and it's strong enough that it deserves its own horse brand IMO.

I like the sound of "Morgan" and to me it brings to mind something strong, yet classy.

To anyone who is stupid enough to say "that's not a Mustang," I would say "you are right, a Mustang has a V8, a carburetor, and a live axle." Guessing most people who would say that don't have an original model.
Technically, the first Mustang came out with either a V-8 or a V-6 and it was "borrowed" from the Falcon and yes, the MME is a Mustang as well albeit an Electric Motor driven car.

I personally think the name Mustang started a slow death in the early 70's. Quality and looks took a hit and it somewhat recovered in the mid 2000's but I really don't see it lasting although I thought the same in the late 70's and here we are still talking about them.

It has taken on many looks/styles/power etc. but at the end of the day, Ford only cares if this car with this name makes them money. Unfortunately, they may stop looking and sh@tcan it altogether due to the money that it is hemorrhaging currently.

Stay tuned...............

The initial discussion on this thread made me think of the video Ford published a number of years ago that shows the development of the Mach E - from concept to creation. It's a great 20 minutes that show the development and philosophy / goal that drove what the Mach E became....

I don't have a modern Mustang to compare to but I did have a 1984 SVO Mustang when it first was released.

I don't think my GTPE is missing the DNA of driving experience of the Mustang as much as one might assume.

Also, according to the Mach-E engineer that Leno gave audience to, it was in fact THE Mustang that the design team was being driven to emulate.

12:20 First reference to how it drives
35:30 The discussion of how driving it compares to a Mustang

Has anyone noticed that the word Mustang doesn't appear anywhere on the body of the MME?

For what it's worth, I like Galaxy, but how about spelling it: Galax-E.

Ouch, now that I see it, never mind.

Happy Holidays

I believe the Mustang II doesn't have the word Mustang on the body as well.

So is that not a Mustang?

I don't believe it's on the Mustang coupe either, the logo is iconic enough.

(FWIW, it is on the front door sills, but I assume that you meant visible on the exterior)

A revival of the Thunderbird name would have been appropriate.
I've thought this from the beginning. Lines up well with the Lightning. Only problem is that Mustang is a name people know and buy. The Thunderbird name? Never got me excited about a purchase....

When I think “Thunderbird”, I think of elderly, well-off men going for the nostalgia of hitting on the car-hops (I think that’s what they were called?) at the 1950s drive-up burger place. I certainly don’t think of anything modern, technologically sophisticated, or high performance.
