I agree! I wouldn’t buy an extended warranty unless a several thousand dollar bill would be a financial disaster. Remember that the insurance companies are in it to make Money. They set their rates based on average repair costs plus a good profit. you only win if you expect to have larger than average repairs.
It’s kinda sad how the high profit margin products use FEAR to sell.

I had the charging module replaced under warranty and saw what the dealer charged to Ford. It was over $3000.00

That is covered by the 8/100,000 EV warranty and not any extended warranty.

It's the same in California, we can't buy an online warranty either. What, you thought it was just a Republican thing?
Is this just an EV thing you are referring to? I have purchased extended warranties online in the past..

[update]
Just looked it up. They are allowed, just has to be in person. So maybe I found it online, but bought it through dealership? I don’t remember it that way, but then, maybe what I’m ought what mechanical breakdown insurance online which is allowed.

I have always found that electronics (like the center display) either die within 90 days, or last 10+ years. 36k mile/3yr warranty on all that stuff seems to cover it as long as the drivetrain has 100k/8yr.

My thinking is that 'extended warranties' would not be offered if the insurance company doesn't USUALLY win. Start a savings account, and put that same amount in every month or year.... and I'll bet you come out ahead financially.

The troubles I had in my 2 Mach Es, were mostly not covered outside the 36k/3yr warranty, will not pay thousands of dollars to get my HVAC system up to date so it can work properly, I recommend everyone to buy extended or just deal with things not working.
