Should I upgrade my Mach E or move on?

So, Ford is going to buy back my 2021 Premium AWD Ext battery Mach E.

Multiple software issues but I will say this, the car never hasn't run, but I don't think there's been a day I got in this car that I didn't have to reset something with the software.

I really like this car but worry about software more than anything.
I can take an offer to have them buy the car back, replace it with any other vehicle, or another Mach E.

I drove a 2024 Premium AWD Ext battery this afternoon and it's great!

Any 2024 owners having issues?

I really like the Mach E but don't want to get stuck, again.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for any input.

I think the Mach-E got hit with a lot of new vehicle issues because it was a totally new platform, a relatively new type of powertrain for Ford (EV), and a brand new infotainment system (Sync 4).

If you like the vehicle, and the Mach-E is a great vehicle, I don't think the average 2024 Mach-E is likely to face anywhere near the same number of gremlins as a 2021 Mach-E did.

I have a 2023 CR1 with over 22,000 miles on it. Rare software issues, but all transient. The car has generally been great. I think first model years of a really new car unfortunately risk having more issues, but after a couple years, the worst of the gremlins usually are worked out. I would probably get that 2024 if I needed to replace my car.

I also have a '23 CR1 and share the above sentiments.

Software has been solid for me. I did have a charge port that needed to be replaced under warranty that took 3 months to get from Ford. That part of the supply chain seems to be better now.

I was navigating the buyback options just like you are now while I was waiting for that charge port. I was going to replace my MME with another MME, but ended up getting the repair finished before the buyback happened, so I kept the CR1.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the input.

I drove all the Tesla comparisons before buying the Mach E and think the Mach E is a better built car and I even own Tesla stock. Ford just really needs step up their game with the software.

Does anyone know if the suspension has changed from 2021-2024? I swear the 2024 wasn't as rigid.

Either I got lucky or you just got a bad car but I have had zero software issues with my car. Have 70K on it and it still drives like a dream. I've had all the recalls done with no issues after. Sorry for the issues you had with yours but I agree, I would get a 24, maybe a GT this time around since the range is similar to mine

There was an earlier thread about improvements for 2024. Suspension was one that was mentioned. Should also have better 0-60 time.

I think a lot of the gremlins that you have experienced have been addressed. You see a lot less complaints from 2023 and of course 2024 because it's so new. If you really enjoy the MME, then I would do the 24 PREM or even a 24 GT because the Magnaride is standard. Of course all that depends on how you feel when driving them and the best deal that you can work. Good Luck.

I can only say that my 2023 has not had to go back to the dealer for anything beyond 10k standard service. I have had no issues that rebooting sync did not fix immediately. The one problem I had with PaaK was traced back to user-error. I have Magneride, so I will sit out the suspension discussion. BlueCruise with lane change is awesome and I have used it on a number of road trips.

My only whine is that there is no manufacturer-supported trailer capacity. I would like that.

When you say, "replace with any other vehicle", what do you mean? There must be some MSRP limit they've put on you, or this discussion would be much different, I think.

Sorry to hear of your software issues. I have the same model.
i think it’s worth noting that if you go with another Mach-E, the software should work better, but will probably always be slow. I think they chose an under-powered processor for SYNC.

I won’t consider another Mach E if they don’t improve the ride. I don’t need more power and 10 extra miles of range that the 24 models have won’t make a difference for me. I’m just tired of the bucking bronco ride.
