I live on the east shore of Lake Ontario. Often the snowiest place in the US. The lake effect that comes off Ontario is not to be taken lightly. This is my car drifted in at work. The drifts are higher than the tires are tall.
For me, snow tires are important. I just don't do all seasons.
With the shape of the front end on these, and the way it sits relatively low to the ground, if you’re busting drifts over 12”-15” and going more than 25MPH, the snow comes up over the hood and covers the windshield faster than the wipers can clear them. But then, other than screwing off on abandoned roads (because the sane people are still inside) nobody has any reason to be going over 25MPH in 15” of powder.
Other than those two things… best snow vehicle I’ve ever owned. I’ll take it out in the snow before I take my 4WD F-150.

I would be afraid of hitting something that is harder than powder, even with snow tires on anything more than 8 inches my car stays in the garage.

I agree. If there's that much accumulation, and I absolutely have to get out in it, I'm probably going to take the truck.

I am on my 3rd MME and I have to say they are the best in cold and snowy weather. My previous vehicles were a Wrangler and a Land Rover. The AWD MME performs excellent in snowy and ice conditions.

I live on Quebec's North Shore. Winters here are very harsh, with lots of snow and cold weather. I have a 2022 Select RWD fitted with Nokian Nordman studded tires. Given the weight of the car and its excellent weight distribution, I've never had any problems in winter. But for me, the secret really is the studded tires.

As far as daily driving in snow is concerned, an AWD Mach E is surefooted and safe as long as you replace the rubbish OEM tires with some proper 3 peak snow tires. We have snow on the ground for 6 months here in Alaska, so I keep my CONTINENTAL VIKINGCONTACT 7 XL on year-round. Where the early model Mach Es fail in the cold is with inadequate cabin heat in extreme cold temps. However, the newer models of Mach E have a larger inline heater in the coolant loop which has solved the cabin heating issues.

i live in snow country, Northern California, and am considering the Mach-E for my next EV. I have had a subaru for the past 30 years, and they are amazing in the snow. never had a spinout or accident! I currently have the Subaru solterra, and am looking at the Mustang, cuz it is so darn cute!
What has everyone's experience been the last few winters, driving in slush, a little snow, and sometimes at least a foot of snow on the unplowed roads, just to get home after work?!
I live near Leavenworth WA and drive over Steven’s Pass frequently in the winter. I have snow tires on rims. over the last 4 years with my Premium ER I have never had any problem except the county plowing a 12” berm at the bottom of our driveway.

The MME AWD is great on snow - with the right tires. Mine came with the Continental All-seasons, which are better than I expected on snow and ice. For my next set, I will probably opt for the Michelin Cross-climates for a slightly better grip.
This matches my experience almost exactly (except mine is a Premium, not a GT). I do have the dual motor, AWD model. I am also in Denver area, and I have had two winters on the stock Continental All-season tires, and it has been as good as any car I have driven in snow. I have taken it up to ski areas with no problems. If the roads are particularly messy, I take my Highlander Hybrid instead, but that's mostly out of concern for how other people drive in the snow, not out of concern for how well the MME does in the snow!

I can’t claim my region as “snow country,” but I’ve taken my MME on a couple of ski trips in snowy conditions. The manual recommends whisper mode so that you get a more graduated throttle mapping (you don’t want all the torque suddenly 😇 - or in an empty parking lot… maybe you do 😈).

I found that useful. It helped me keep my input adjustments even.

In the 24 and early cars, you also have a secret way to soften 1 pedal / regen lift off. Turn off 1 pedal and press the L button in the middle of the dial-o-gear shifter. You still get 1PD, but it doesn’t come on all at once.

Heading into my 4th winter with my MME. It is sure footed assuming you have good tread.

If driving in a snowstorm especially close to freezing be prepared to get our and clean the sensors mostly when driving freeway speeds. I drive with cruise control almost all the time, it does get irritating when the cruise gets disabled.

I turn 1-pedal off on snow covered roads. Instinct tells me to remove my foot from the accelerator when the tires loose their footing, with 1-pedal on it tends to make it more challenging to get the footing back.

I miss not having fog lights in a snowstorm.

NH. Cannot believe how well my Premium AWD handles thick highway slush since putting Michelin CC2s on it. Yes, those tires + cold definitely hit my range but I can afford the hit. Safety first!

Getting my snow tires put on today. Calgary, Alberta. I always feel I've chosen a suboptimal date for mounting my snow tires. It looks like we might get some snow on Saturday, then lower temperatures at the beginning of next week, so I think this year I'm only off by one day from optimal. Should have booked it for tomorrow!

North Carolina has mild winters with minimal snow but we get the occassional ice storm with sleet falling for several hours. Without a hot motor to keep the hood and front end warm you may get ice-encrusted headlights and front sensors/camera ports while driving in those conditions. The car handles extremely well and I feel totally safe with RWD while driving in extreme weather.
