So I took delivery of my MME a few days ago, the first thing I did was set up PAAK so I don't have to carry that ginormous fob with me. It's been working well so far (only failed once and took 30s for it to reconnect), until I tried to set up my backup code tonight in the car, then I got this message:
Ford Mustang Mach-E So Apparently I have a Ghost PAAK... IMG_0618

Baffled, I opened my Fordpass and looked, PAAK is working fine:

After a few restarts of both Sync4 and my phone, I decided to reset the PAAK to see if that's causing the issue, then I saw this:

Ford Mustang Mach-E So Apparently I have a Ghost PAAK... IMG_0616

Um... So apparently the PAAK that I have been using the past few days doesn't exist in the system for some reason... Now I will attempt to remove all PAAK in the car main screen with physical keys, and see what happens next. Anyone has similar issue with this? Just curious.

This is the issue - setting up the backup code is only done at set up (unless they’ve changed this in a more recent update). Once you went to set up the passcode you cleared your PAAK.

Wait... if that's the case wouldn't the car no longer accept my phone as key?

This is incorrect. You can set up the backup code at any time after adding your PAAK. As far as the error goes, I have done tens of PAAK resets to figure out an unrelated bug and I have never seen what you are seeing. There was report of some FordPass server maintenance over the weekend so I wonder if this is related. I would try again and if it has the same errors then go ahead and reset PAAK, clear out your PAAK bluetooth connections, and set up again.

Hi there. This doesn't sound like an experience we want you to have with your Mach-E. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you with this PAAK concern on my end.
