I started the process to at least get a quote for my 21 to get an ESP 8/100. Granger wrote back I have an existing one on the car. I picked it up used last month. I'm not sure if it previously was canceled or not. Can this be seen in FDRS? Granger saw it somehow. It shows as EN2021 (I assume that was the year code to start it)

Some vehicles got gifted an ESP a few months back. I believe it was tied to the car and not the owner like they are when you pay for them. This may be the case here.

No such luck on getting the dealer to move it to me. I guess it's still under the previous owners name and they just walked from the vehicle a couple months ago. I don't usually have good luck, but it's consistent.

Ford has a procedure for transferring an existing ESP on a used car to the new owner, as long as the car wasn't repossessed. There is a fee of a hundred dollars or so. You should be able to google 'Ford ESP transfer' for the correct procedure.

Bummer. Ford says I need to contact the previous owner to get them to start the transfer.
"I'm just calling about your vehicles extended warranty..." ?

The previous owner has to do that paperwork to move it over.

In this case, they should be able to apply a new one in your name, its not going to stop you from getting a whole new plan.

So does that mean the OP is stuck in ESP purgatory?
No, they can sign up for a new one, just can't take over the old one without the old owner starting the process.

Ah, good. I was worried they'd not be able to get one at all!

Yeah that was my worry as well. Sucks because it's a 7/100k ESP on there.

If you send me your VIN I can lookup the ESP currently active, in terms of how long it was good for, unless you already got that info.

It's good til 2027. But it's not under my name and I probably can't get the previous owners info, from California. And they have that "do not track" consent lol.

If the previous owner knew about the remaining extended warranty, they would more than likely pursue a refund of the remaining coverage then just signing it over to you.
