SOC display verse HVB SOC

Can somebody explain to me why this number isn't the same? Assuming the HVB SOC Is correct according to car scanner I would think the display would show the same.

They are different due to the battery buffers.

SOC display is what you see on the dashboard, usable capacity. The HVB SOC is the actual battery capacity percentage.

They are different due to the battery buffers.

SOC display is what you see on the dashboard, usable capacity. The HVB SOC is the actual battery capacity percentage.
wouldn’t it be the other way around? The displayed state of charge would be showing a lower % with the battery buffer.

Not if your SOC is >50%. There’s buffers at the top and bottom of the battery pack that you cannot use (to protect the battery from damage).

So you can never truly reach 100 or 0 percent of the actual capacity. 100% displayed is actually like 96 or something something percent of the actual capacity. While 0% displayed would still be like 3-4% actual capacity.

I am having the same issue. The SOC on Car Scanner is lower which implies that my actual range, and available energy, are less than what the display shows. The above explanation would only make sense if displayed SOC was lower. Based on photo his MME will show 8% SOC when battery is actually dead.

No. The two are slightly different equations, so they have an intercept around 50% (+- 5% or so).
